The Phillies have placed Brad Lidge on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee, retroactive to June 7, and recalled catcher Paul Bako from triple-A. Bako is expected to be in uniform tonight at Citi Field.

The 32-year-old closer is 0-3 this season with 13 saves, six blown saves and a 7.27 ERA in 28 games.  Lidge blew two saves over the weekend in Los Angeles, and was struggling to identify the problem.  He missed time in April with inflammation in his right knee.

After blowing the save Saturday, Lidge was clearly searching for answers. He has said that while his knee has not healed, it does not affect his pitching.  The Phillies have obviously learned something since Sunday; the word "sprain" is new here. Look for more to come as information becomes available.
