Lidge rocked in rehab debut

POSTED: Saturday, April 10, 2010, 8:08 PM

HOUSTON -- Some not-so-good news as the Phillies mount another big inning against the Astros...

Closer Brad Lidge (elbow, knee) pitched in his first rehab game for single-A Clearwater tonight and couldn’t finish an inning. He allowed four earned runs on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Lidge was pitching in a game situation for the first time since receiving a cortisone shot March 30 to help boost his velocity. The Phillies had been pleased with his recent progress.

But now there are even more questions about his health. We haven't heard any indications on Lidge's velocity, but it couldn't have been great if single-A hitters were teeing off him. We'll see what else we can find out.

Some good news: Lefthander J.C. Romero pitched a scoreless inning for Clearwater in his second rehab outing. He allowed one hit and struck out two. Romero has pitched two scoreless innings in two rehab outings.

Amaro should have taken a page from Billy Beane and should just find a new closer every year. It's the biggest headcase position in baseball.

Murph, its time to organize a fundraiser for Poor Richard. Once we raise $5k, we can ship the dick to Antartica.

THIS is gong to be a problem if it drags into the end of the year. Hope Ruben can find some more Kids down on the farm to trade for a Stopper.

we keep hitting like this we'll be fine, even w/Shane a bit off. we do NOT need a sub par Lidge. & all Charlie did was WIN A WORLD SERIES.

lidge had a excellent season in 2008 and helped win the world series what I meant by saying he is a fraud is phils knew he had problems before on astro's and went into the tank and was completed rattled by pujols in the play-offs the astro's lost, I think personally if myer's had been kept as the closer(he did a nice job for a part of 2007)and picked up another pitcher to help him at that position phils would have went to world series and won. I think lidge will be out of baseball in a year, this guy can't hit pitch, run or field and he denies any problems with him always saying he is feeling good. at least eaton remember him? admitted several times that he stunk up the place. lidge is the weak-est link on the team not moyer.

Let's see. I want Bourn in centerfield instead of Victorino and a World Series in '08. Some people are soooooo stupid. Thanks Brad. If your finished you were still worth the ride.

With a boob like Charlie at the helm, this team has no chance to win or get to the W.S.

I like Charlie but I do believe he blew the World Series last year by pitching Pedro twice instead of Happ.
