Lee will wear No. 33
Bob Brookover, Inquirer Baseball Columnist
The Phillies have made the Cliff Lee signing official, so he rejoins the team exactly 364 days after he was traded to the Seattle Mariners.
The team verified that the deal is for five years and $120 million with a sixth-year vesting option. Lee will wear No. 33 because his old number with the Phillies (34) now belongs to Roy Halladay, the man who replaced him as the staff ace last season.
Lee will meet with the media at 3 p.m. in Citizens Bank Park.
More details later and in Thursday's Philadelphia Inquirer.

OK, enough with the Jayson Werth bashings. Me, I wish the guy was still here. And I absolutely defy any of the trash-talkers to TURN DOWN the deal the guy's agent made for him. Wish to hell it had been me, and so do all of you. TBear

Fernando Valenzuela's number as a Phillie. Mostly worn by a bunch of forgettable stiffs over the years. I remember Wayne Twitchell wearing #33 while having a very good year (13 wins, 2.50 ERA, 10 CGs, 5 SHOs) on a very bad '73 team. Also worn by Bo Belinsky as a Phil. Belinsky should be in a HOF somewhere just for the starlets he dated in the 60s, including Ann Margaret, Connie Stevens, Tina Louise (Ginger on Gilligan's Island), and Mamie Van Doren. tornadoh- I'm not gay, but would gladly be RAJ b*@#$! georgel
Why can't they both have 34? They're aren't in the games at the same time. The purpose for numbers were for those who sit in the nosebleed sections to ID their favorite players. Now, they have their names on the uni's so the number is superfluous (for those of you in Camden - unnecessary). PLUS,just think how much time the clowns in the national sports press can kill telling the rest of the country how unique and Philadelphish it is. It might even replace cheese steaks, Rocky and throwing snowballs at Santa for their inane chatter time.

Over/Under proposition - Combined walks by Halladay/Lee vs. walks by Hamels alone. Welcome back, Clifton! uncle meat- Merry Cliffmas and happy Halladays to all. I hope your stockings are filled with Cole and there is plenty of Roys under the tree. The best present of all was the Phils getting Lee and the Yankees were left looking stupid with checkbook in hand, second best might be what thoughts went through Werths head when he realized he has to see this rotation 18 times a year.
SF Giants didn't beat us, we beat ourselves last yr. Errors, non-clutch hitting was our downfall. That and Cody Ross micconway
The real reason the Phils traded Lee last year was because Halladay wanted 34. They were able to bring Lee back this year bc it would have looked bad if Lee changed his number for Halladay last year. bmoney17

Welcome back Cliff. lacboi
I loved watching him pitch. He and Halladay pitch fast and don't fool around between pitches. Let's hope The Four Horsemen can stay healthy. 76er
