More info just came in from the Phillies, which I'm passing along to you:

Additional Details Announced For Saturday’s
Harry Kalas Memorial Tribute

The Kalas family and the Phillies have announced the following details for Saturday’s Harry Kalas tribute to be held at Citizens Bank Park:

Beginning at 8:00 a.m., on a first come, first served basis, fans will have the opportunity to pay their respects on the field as they pass by Harry’s casket which will be located behind home plate. To accommodate as many fans as possible, the starting time of the memorial tribute program has been moved back to 1:30 p.m.

Fans will pass by the casket until approximately 12:45 p.m. at which time all persons in attendance will be directed to seats. Beginning at approximately 1:00 p.m., current and former players -- some of whom are travelling great distances to be here to pay their final respects -- broadcasters, front office employees, and friends and family members will pay their final respects before the on-field tribute begins at 1:30 p.m.

Fans will be directed to enter Citizens Bank Park through the Third Base Gate at Pattison Avenue and Citizens Bank Way and will be asked to leave the ballpark through the First Base Gate. Although fans are not being asked to bring flowers or other mementos, if they choose to do so such items should be left in the area of the Mike Schmidt statue prior to entry at the Third Base Gate.

Parking will be free. Fans are encouraged to park in the lots on the west side of the ballpark, located on the site of the former Veterans Stadium.  Limited concession stands will be open.

All fans in attendance will receive a commemorative program, an 8”x10” photograph of Harry and a poem written by him in 2002 as a fan tribute.

Kudos to the Phillies for scheduling a worthy tribute for this great man! I'm sure it will be packed! The deserving outpouring of love for "HK" has been a heartwarming silver lining for so many of us.

Hopefully no one will camp out with coolers of beer...something like that is not needed.

Harry Kalas......what to say about a man who's voice will be forever embedded into our minds each and every time we watch a Philadelphia Phillies game! I was very fortunate to meet Harry personally back in 1994 at the Vet during a "Phillies and Family" BBQ, which was not open to the general public. When I saw Harry I said hello, introducted myself and shook his hand, Harry then replied in that golden voice "How are you doing my friend", which he put his arm around me...that will be something I will never forget thanks to my best friend and brother, Frank N. I think it would be a great gesture for the Phillies to try and hire Harry's oldest son, Todd, which is a broadcaster for the TB Rays. Todd is energetic and a people's person like his late Father. One final note.....NO ONE will ever truly be able to replace Harry the K. Let's not forget Chris Wheeler was not a friend of Harry the K, when Harry needed him during tough times and the Phillies need to keep that in mind before they even think about "Wheels" as his replacement, plus, "Wheels" is boring, but is good as an analasyst. God Bless Harry Kalas and his family and also, God Bless the Philadelphia Phillies organization for paying their great friend the respect he is so deserving of! Go Phillies.....let's get another one for Harry!!!

while harry did love his scotch, no one should be consuming alcohol for this event. i for one love tailgating, but technically speaking, this is a viewing. hopefully, all attendees show some class and respect by refraining from the alcohol and tailgating. just this one time people! not too much to ask for a great man!

I've been a Phils fan since 1957 and in 1971 (Harry's 1st year) I drove down to Wrigley Field to see the Phils and Cubs. (I heard Paul McCartney's brand new release "Uncle Albert" for the first time on the way down, long time ago.)Since I had met By, Bill and Richie there the year before, I knew where the press box exited and after the game got the chance to meet the new announcer. He was so friendly and in no hurry whatsoever. He asked me if I lived nearby and I told him that I was visiting parents in suburban Chicago. I had just completed my 1st year of teaching in Silver Spring (MD) and seen the new "Vet" just 3 weeks earlier. Two years ago when I retired after 36 years of teaching, I said to myself "Well, Harry's still go strong with what he's doing." It's great to pick up the games here on AM 1210 and am happy that I heard the 4th inning of last Saturday night's game in Denver (Harry's only inning on radio).

I think tailgating with coolers of scotch is more appropriate considering that Harry was a heavy drinker and drank more scotch than water. I spent a few Sunday evenings back in the late 1980s, early 1990s with Harry at Jack's tavern on State Road, in Media. He would stop in on his way home from a Sunday day game and he would get blitzed. Alcohol was a part of his life.

Albanykey, you show no class at all. But, then, you hang out at Jack's! I much prefer John's behind the Post Office. Much classier joint! Besides The Little Inn was Harry & Whitey's spot after games.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Follow him on Twitter here.

Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
