Agreed. I think he deserves it but Kemp should have gotten the nod to fill in.

Glad Charlie did this...This will make the whole team happy; nevermind what all the other NL teams think...were not supposed to like them anyway.

Kemp's power numbers are not even close to werth... he deserves to go more than Victorino... but i'm glad they are all in!! I love it!! the '95 Indians has their whole OF elected... once again the haters on these boards look silly... many claimed Werth is not an everyday player... haha... no he's not, he's an all star!!

I really dont think it was all Charlie's choice. Jayson was above Manny with votes and since Shane got in and Beltran was out, the next vote getter would be put in and that's Jayson.

Werth has more HR, RBI, runs and plays better defense than Kemp. Werth also has a RING. Torre loaded his players on the all star team after the 2001 Yankees World series loss. Same thing here, nice call Charlie! When was the last time the Phils had 5 All-stars?

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
