It must be Schilling, right?
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
The Phillies revealed the 12-man ballot for this year's Wall of Fame voting and, once again, Curt Schilling has to be considered the favorite.
That, of course, did not matter in 2011 when John Kruk was enshrined. The team opens voting to fans online and the choices are whittled to five for the team-picked committee to decide on the inductee.
Here is the full ballot:
Larry Christenson, RHP
Jim Konstanty, RHP
Ron Reed, RHP
Curt Schilling, RHP
Rick Wise, RHP
Mike Lieberthal, C
Jimmy Wilson, C
Pinky Whitney, 3B
Greg Gross, OF
Von Hayes, OF
Mike Ryan, coach
Jim Fregosi, manager
Interestingly enough, Lenny Dykstra's name is missing from the ballot despite his inclusion last season. This isn't the Hall of Fame, so the Phillies run the show. They, apparently, have invoked the morality clause. Dykstra, among other legal issues, is awaiting sentencing on multiple counts of grand theft auto. It's been postponed to March.
So replacing Kruk and Dykstra are Whitney and Ryan.
There really shouldn't be a challenger to Schilling. Already, two members from the 1993 Phillies — Darren Daulton and Kruk — have been inducted before Schilling.
Schilling ranks at the top in many of the franchise's major pitching categories. He's sixth in wins (101), eighth in innings pitched (1,659 1/3), fourth in strikeouts (1,554), fifth in WHIP (1.12), second in K/9 (8.4), sixth in games started (226), first in K:BB ratio (3.75) and fifth in bWAR (34.6). He still holds the single-season record for strikeouts, 319 in 1997.
Obviously, he has a complicated legacy in Philadelphia cemented once he demanded out of the city and won three World Series with Arizona and Boston. That shouldn't take away from his accomplishments over nine seasons with the Phillies.
In his only postseason with the Phillies, he started four games. The Phillies won three, including his masterful shutout in Game 5 of the 1993 World Series, and he posted a postseason ERA of 2.59.
After this season and Schilling's assumed induction, the Wall options are bleak. Pat Burrell won't be eligible until 2015 for enshrinement. Bank on that.
And there are plenty of future inductees on the current Phillies. But none are retiring any time soon.
Any ideas?

Schilling that punk. He hated Phila.
Could not wait to get out. He and Jerwmy Roenick go on the wall of shame. martyhenry
Jim Konstanty is being overlooked but he was part of an overachieving team that got to the World Series. He was the MP of the 1950 team. Many voters are to young to remember Konstanty and he is denied year after year. jpelle36

Honoring Schilling is to honor Scott Rolen and J. D. Drew. These guys did like Philly and demanded to leave Philly. Why place a person on the wall who has total disdain for Philly. Let the Dbacks and Red Sox honor him. There are more deserving Ballplayers who are not on the wall. That is everyone who did not ask to leave Philly. I would rather see Pat the Bat up there because if he were asked he would come out of retirement to play with the Phillies. jpelle36
Come on Phils. You sell out every game anyway. You don't need these mickey mouse games to get people in the seats. Besides, the list is terrible. Wiseman6
I wouldn't vote for Schilling if he was the only one on the list. He said he wanted to sign a deal and retire here and after they gave it to him he started saying he wanted to leave. He forced the trade and cost us plenty, I don't forget and putting him on that wall would be a crime. pjm0825
Jim Konstanty hands down. He has tenure and his numbers are quite amazing. He put up great numbers and good numbers no matter what the team and he did so year in and year out and never asked to bail on the team as it became clear they could not win. If the sports writers (questionable as so many have their own bias or are clear clowns) would educate the public this guy would be the hands down choice! Kurt might not even show up if he gets it! Did not leave on a good note and his real accomplishments came after leaving us! Think about it Phillies phans where we would have been had he stayed?! But that aside look a this guy Konstanty--he is far more deserving period!! dmslbw
Lieberthal is a very, very deserving member. However, he never played on a winning team so he is overlooked. If he was playing now, he would be beloved. hawk18
I've seen him in flip flops before, and the gigantic scar on his foot tells me that it was not fake, and people who buy into the conspiracy that it was fake, are letting other people do their thinking for them.
— CenterFielderGaryMaddox
I didn't say I was following anyone else's logic on this - I can think for myself. The guy had one or two good years here, was a full-on self-promoter, and continues to do that with his love of the Civil War and lead soldiers and his right-wing politics. He is a fake.
He went to Boston because somehow, 'as a self-proclaimed history buff' he thought Boston's baseball pedigree was better than ours. There, he had maybe one good year surrounded by a team that was certainly better than the one he left here.
He continues to bash Philly, bash the fans, bash the team, and demean the efforts of the past 5-10 years (the initial few building up to the last five). He spouts this on ESPN and a variety of other 'expert' shows, to pompously espouse his pedigree. He is a fake.
The bloody sock reference was a metaphor - unlike your poster name. 24sDad
Both Eagles players and Phillies players had to suffer for playing on the Vet *concrete* surface. If they opened their mouths to complain, they were labeled malcontents. If they played, generally their careers ran shorter than many. If they demanded to be traded, they were bad-mouthed and then let go/traded/ect. There are many reporters and former players that openly talk about the dangers from that field. While, at the time, I also griped about *selfish* players, I CANNOT fault them for being concerned for their health.
Second, the Phillies brass ALWAYS said they didn't have the money for better players. It wasn't until just before the new stadiums opened that the Phillies started spending. Remember, at the time Philly was either the #4 or #5 most populated city, but the team spending was often placed in the #20's. Players didn't want to come, the Phillies didn't want to spend and our own players just wanted to win.
I don't blame Schilling at all. While I don't agree with his politics, he is still more than worthy to be inducted. kecward78
Must be no one remembers Rick Wise. He did pitch a no hitter for the Phils...and hit a home run (maybe 2) in that game, too. He was a solid starter during some lean years. I'd take him over the self-centered jerk who seems to recall his playing days as a Red Sox player only. joejab4
The downside to Schilling being inducted is that he gets to stand in front of a microphone and give a speech. Firebird7478
I VOTE FOR NONE OF THE ABOVE DONDEN31
yeah...can't we get the Phanatic up on the wall? In this town I highly doubt Schilling will get the votes. We're a bitter, grudge-holding bunch - us Phillies fans - (and I'm proud to be one of them) bingbangbong
I vote for Warren Brusstar. His stache alone belongs on the wall. weave09
I agree Konstanty should be on the wall, but once again, if Juan Samuel is worthy so is Von Hayes. The standard was set with Sammy. You can't ignore that now. EL Zorro
Surprised Von Hayes isn't getting more support; he was really the only reason to watch the Phils for about 8 years. PhillyAustralian
Schilling doesn't belong?!
You guys have got to be kidding.
These types of honor are about what someone did on the field, not whether you like him or not.
It wasn't his fault that the Phils wouldn't spend enought to have enough top-notch players back then and it wasn't his fault that the trade was so bad.
Buy a clue
VicM
Shilling burned so many bridges when he left this town. I'd rather have Dykstra and his legal problems than that prima donna Shilling on the Wall. Of the group, only Lieberthal and even Von Hayes deserve the honor. Repubrebirth
Wall options are bleak? To us old timers who watched the Phillies before some of you were born or had to listen to them on radio the options are far from bleak. Curt did a fine job but much of his success in his prime was wearing another uniform. Konstanty was an amazing pitcher and early reliever and good for good and bad teams and he has good stats. Educate the younger fans on this guy and others and you will see why they deserve the vote and belong. I'm not against Curt but think others deserve a shot before him. dmslbw
For those people who laugh off a guy like Greg Gross or Ron Reed or any other player whose name they don't recognize, look at their stats with the Phillies. This is the Phillies Wall of Fame, not the Baseball Hall of Fame or let's vote for the guy we see on ESPN and Fox all the time. Greg Gross had the most pinch hits in Phillies history and did it consistently over a number of years. Ron Reed had the most saves until pitchers after him came along to overtake him. Jim Konstanty was a Phillies great. I'd have to look up some of the other players. Don't just brush off some of these guys just because they're not in the national sports media or you didn't enjoy watching them as a kid. AvoidSundanceVacations
Setdawgy,
"Lieby caught the most games in Phillies history, that alone should put him on the wall. Von Hayes was the best player on the Phils for at least 5 years."
Wow, you have really low standards for who gets in. So what if Lieberthal caught more games than any other catcher. That only means the Phils were too cheap to go out and get a GOOD catcher during those years. Plus, Lieberthal was one of several players that didn't go all out to win, just being content to be there.
Von Hayes? He was "the best Phillies player for 5 years"? Again, the team sucked during his tenure. Better to not put anyone in from the 1985-2000 period, except for a few key members of the 1993 team. jman
This list is laughable! Von Hayes? Greg Gross? Mike Ryan? It's a "Wall of Fame", not a "Wall of guys who played more than 5 seasons with the Phillies". Lieberthal better not get in. He, Randy Wolf, and Bobby Abreu were the poster children for the underachieving, just-lay-back-and-be-happy-to-collect-a-paycheck club. jman
Shilling's best moments were for other teams. Konstanty is the only legitimate candidate in this mix. richardecredico
theres some names i'm not familiar with on the list, and some i am.so i'm going with fregosi.if theres a 2nd choice,it would be larry christeson.or lenny dykstra.i know curt, will probably get the vote, but itys the way he left, and that kinda sucked, but he really pitched well here.so the manager gets my vote. t_darb_56
I grew up with the Whiz Kids. Jim Konstanty was absolutely amazing!
He was a blessing. He had what you call a palm ball whatever that
is in todays pitches. It was his out pitch. When Eddie Sawyer wanted
him in from the bullpen, he would jester with his hands to his eyes
the making of eye glasses. As we all know Jim wore eye glasses. Lynnwood
The only worthy wall of fame Phillies are the ones who have retired numbers. pedge
I like Curt but I'll like Konstany better this time around. nuf said! Lynnwood
It would be a travesty to put Schilling on the wall of fame. He wanted out of Philly - keep him off. Let Arizona and Boston worry about him. I vote none of the above. AHiredGun

why care about Lenny's off field stuff... if Daulton's was ignored? sn11- Lenny got us to the World Series. Juiced up and crushing the ball. He was the man in '93.

Mark Lewis,Desi Relaford,Carlton Loewer,Matt Beech,Chad Ogea,Amaury Telemaco,Andy Ashby,Jeff Brantley,Johnny Estrada. Both Scott Rolen and Schilling are cast as villains in this town mainly for one reason they had the guts to say what they saw ,that the Phillies at that time weren't committed to putting a team together capable of winning . Remember Bill Giles and ." we're a small market team"quote. Schilling and Rolen were the best pitcher and player on a series of bad teams. Stop blaming them for wanting to win isn't that what even us as fans hope for ?Both of them belong on the wall or the wall itself becomes a JOKE jgf
I say no to Curt Schilling. For some reason, he always came off to me as a man who only cared for himself. The towel on his head in the dugout in the WS, really turned me off. Sorry Curt Schilling, IMHO. RayWes
agree that Lieberthal and Konstantly should get on wall as well --but Schilling is more deserving right now ...Ron Reed was a key for a lot of first place Phils teams as well (as was Madson, another non-closer for many yrs who fails to get his proper due..Phils would have won nothing without him) warbiscuit
I can't believe how little support Lieberthal is getting. He was a Phillie from the minors until they forced him out and still had the class to come back and retire as a Phillie. And he had some pretty damn good years for a pretty sh***y team playing a very difficult position. He gets my vote. slowerlower
Schilling and Rolen both tried to shame Ed Wade, Bill Giles et al. into spending the money to be more competitive. They may have been out of line doing it publicly (and Rolen certainly was out of line trying use his status as leverage to force the Phillies into a higher payroll bracket), but they were both motivated not just by $$ but also be the desire to play for a competitive Phillies team. I've never held their actions against them, personally. Drew and his agent warned the Phillies not to draft him unless they were willing to go to a certain salary level. They warned the Phillies that he would not sign below a certain number. They drafted him anyway, and he kept his promise. If you're looking to blame someone for the mostly crappy teams from the mid-80's to the early 2000's blame management as much as the star players who couldn't stand to play for a noncompetitive organization anymore. 1980
No to Schilling. No to Lieberthal. No to Rolen. Yes to Jim Eisenreich, more class than all of my no's combined. Seeing Red
younged --Schilling pitched his heart and arm off for Phils and simply had enough of being on loser -- compare a competitive guy like that to a complacent guy like Oswalt who had to be begged to go from last-place Astros to Phils and then could care less and pitched like it ... Schilling had more wins for Phils than any other team and, if Fregosi and Mitchc hadn't blown 1993 WS, would have been as much an all-time hero for WS-champion Phils as Dbacks and Redsox...if he gets to a HoF, and I think h shoud and eventually will, under HoF criteria he shoud be wearing Phils uniform (It's no longer player's choice... it's base on where he spent most significant part of career, which is why Gary ACarter is anExpo and not AMet as he wanted) warbiscuit
In due respect to all those mentioned not one is truly worthy, so instead lets petition as a fan to put up none other than Brad Lidge, well deserved before his time, truly a remarkable feat that year of winning it all , and you know he will praise many of his teammates not like Shilling shunning the franchise and teammates and the fans, all about the almighty dollar for him PhillyPhilly
I don't get all the love for a guy who pi$$ed and moaned to leave Philly. Are we that hard up for players, that we want guys that won Championships with other teams to be on our wall? Who's next on the wall, J.D. Drew? Hey, we did draft him and he's won Championships with other teams. Why not? Jim Konstanty would be the only choice that makes any sense. younged
Remind me to stay home when that self centered, reactionary, blowhard is honored. richw38
El Zorro, you've proved my point by naming 2 categories in which Sammy consitently led the NL. What did Von ever lead the league in??
Seriously, if I remember correctly, it was Pete Rose who first made a big deal about the trade by referring to Hayes as "Old 5-for-1". Franco became a decent (not great) player, and there was a reliever we sent to Cleveland (Russ something?) who also had a career. If Pete hadn't pointed it out, I doubt many fans would have cared all that much.
I think my point is that if you can only vote for 1 guy, the field would have to be very weak for me to vote for Hayes - maybe if it was all guys from the late 80's!! 1980
BTW, it wasn't Von's fault that the Phillies traded him for 5 players, including the very popular Manny Trillo and young Julio Franco. He didn't proclaim or claim to be the next Ted Williams, either. EL Zorro
If Sammy belongs on the Wall, so does Von Hayes. As for Schilling, he was a great pitchers but a jerk who orchestrated his way out of here. I would not vote for him. EL Zorro
Sammy was not a good fielder at any position he played. He had an .917 FP in LF and .865 in RF. His FP at 2B was 8 points below avg. He lead the NL in errors 3 times ('84-33, 86'25, 87'-18) and was second twice. Von Hayes had a .987 FP and he played all the OF positions plus 3B and 1B (441 games .990 FP). Sammy also lead the league in Ks 4 seasons in a row and was second twice. Not good for a lead off hitter. His OPB was .315, .310 with the Phillies. Von Hayes was .354, .363 with the Phillies. Yes, Sammy was an exciting player. That said, I take Von Hayes over him anytime of the day. EL Zorro
Konstanty had a season to remember in 50. 74G,16W,22S. He even started game 1 of the 50W.S. 8innings 1run and unfortunately he got the loss.Played about 6years with the whizzers. Put him on the wall. 43 phils
I think Juan Samuel is already on the Wall. EL Zorro
Schilling is likely HoFer .. if not on first ballot, he should get in eventually as he had about 5 awesome seasons including 2 300-strikeout seasons with Phils that would have been 20-win seasons with another team.. could have won 2 Cy Youngs with Arizona but had the misfortune of being 2nd to Randy Johnson.... and ultimately was really the "man" on staffs that had other surefire HoFers (Johnson abd Pedro).. was arguably best post-season clutch pitcher in history.. and when he does get it, under HoF criteria should be wearing Phils uniform since he pitched twice the seasons with Phils than with either Ariz or Bost..so it's time for Phils fans to reclaim Schilling as its own and add him to list of Phils greats .... will never forget his amazing 2-0 shutout of Blue Jays in 2003 game 5 --not Schilling's fault that mgr insisted on having Mitch blow game 6.. warbiscuit
Sixto Lezcano phillyinsd
No argument there Sammy was one of the fastest guys from home to first I've ever seen.
Gotta love those pathetic mid/late 80s Phils teams. I probably still have a Lance the pennant 87 bumper sticker still floating around somewhere. Setdawgy
Samuel at least was a premier base stealer. Hayes was never better than OK at any aspect of the game. The irony of this discussion is that I had season tickets in the mid-to-late 80's (great timing, huh?) and used to shake my head and grimace at both of these guys!!! 1980
1980, not sure what your point is or what you mean by Bizarro world.
Samuel is already on the wall and the second he left Philly, the mets moved him to center field. He then went to the Dodgers and played second for a year or two. After that he floated around the american league, as a utility player. Also, Samuel led off and never saw a pitch he didn't like, you can't really compare these two fairly. I would take Hayes, you would take Sammy, I'm OK with that.
Setdawgy- On my Phillies Wall of Fame, Samuel and Kruk wouldn't be there. Some of the best Phillies ever? Really? But that isn't what this really is. Is respecting eras and for the older fans, their era is most likely overlooked.
hawk18
I, for one, hope not. Schilling threw this team under the bus, and consistently continues to do so on his biased reporting on the networks. He bought into being a Red Sock, and if he goes to the HOF in Cooperstown, which he is on the bubble for, he'll go in as a Red Scok.
This guy is a fake. Goes with the blood thing on the sock. Fakery. 24sDad- I've seen him in flip flops before, and the gigantic scar on his foot tells me that it was not fake, and people who buy into the conspiracy that it was fake, are letting other people do their thinking for them.
- I've seen him in flip flops before, and the gigantic scar on his foot tells me that it was not fake, and people who buy into the conspiracy that it was fake, are letting other people do their thinking for them.
Dykstra is a Met. Keep him off the ballot. Pete Rose needs to have his own plaque before any of the names listed here. chopperdaddy
Setdawgy, I'm sure Hayes was WAY better than Samuel up there on Bizarro World, but here on Planet Earth their stats as Phillies are eerily similar. And, regarding Samuel not being qualified to play 2B at the major league level, I'm amazed that the GM's and managers of the 7 teams he played for in his 16-year career couldn't see that as clearly as you do.
Samuel: 7 seasons, .263, 921 H, 523 R, 100 HR, 413 RBI, 176 2B, 71 3B, 249 SB, 3 All-Star
Hayes: 9 seasons, .272, 1173 H, 646 R, 124 HR, 568 RBI, 232 2B, 30 3B, 202 SB, 1 All-Star 1980
ABSOLUTELY NOT! If you MUST pick another player from the '93 team, it would have to be Lenny (Kruk making it in first is a sham). Yeah, he is a mess now, but was the catalyst for that team just like Utley was in 08. SilliBilli
I'm writing in Ron Stone. BobbyD
Yes 1980, .280 and 120 HRs are worthy of the Phillies Wall of Fame. This is the Phillies remember. As far as Samuel being the "star" of those bad eighties teams, I doubt he ever hit .280, struck out 150 times a year and had no right playing 2nd base in the major leagues Setdawgy

setdawgy, since when are is Von Hayes universally hated? he was a disappointment, and he was one of the better players on some truly awful teams (Juan Samuel was the star of some of those teams, by the way). Hayes came here with all of the "Swing-like-Ted-Williams" hype, and if I remember correctly he probably hit about .280 with maybe 120 or so HR for the Phillies. You think that's Wall of Fame material? If so, then anybody who ever started at any position for at least 5 years should be up there, and it should be renamed the Wall of Mediocrity. Also, didn't Hayes play as a scab during a baseball strike? If so, the other players would probably object to his being up there. 1980
Two more points for all those Shilling lovers: Wonder what response you would get from his teammates on whether he should be on that wall? Possibly the most disliked Phillie ever, by his own team. Second, while some people give him a pass for complaining and campaigning his way out of Philly and off a mediocre team, there have been other very good players who did not do that but stayed and became part of the solution rather than the problem. Jimmy Rollins immediately springs to mind. Pat Burrell as well... Hmmm, they both won a championship here as I recall. Shilling and Rolen - let'em be honored in some other place, where they would rather be. topwonk
Comment removed.- Wheels might be on the wall, but he should feel lucky he has even had a job all these years.

It's only fair to consider the players who played for the Phillies before Schilling. Just because it's been a long time and some of these guys aren't household names, doesn't mean we should ignore them. Make Schilling wait for a few more years while they consider players from the past. AvoidSundanceVacations
Sorry...I do not reward a guy who begged to leave the team. Especially when he was nothing until he got here and we gave him his shot.
Do we have no self respect? smfree31
Agree with topwonk, Schilling's an arse, always was. But he's the guy on that list, sorry. And I agree there doesn't need to be another guy added every year. There aren't that many Wall of Fame Phillies, sorry to say. Von Hayes? They must be kidding. PhillySubsMac
A lot of negative comments about some of these candidates, but two guys getting no love are Lieberthal & Von Hayes. Lieby caught the most games in Phillies history, that alone should put him on the wall. Von Hayes was the best player on the Phils for at least 5 years. It's not his fault the Phillies gave up so much for him (which didn't amount to much after Julio Franco and a washed up Manny Trillo)Why he is universally hated in this town I don't understand. Setdawgy
When is Joe Lis going to get his due? Joe Lis lives
Rick Wise? Are you kidding me? He went 75-76 as a Phillie, and yet more than 15 doofuses voted for him. Unbelievable. 1980
VON HAYES!!!!! Bill Lumbergh
Pinky Whitney gets my vote. Check out his stats. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/whitnpi01.shtml He had over 200 hits for us twice, and the seasons were much shorter in his day. mrmiller74
Schilling does have a tainted history with the city and demanded out of town. Three things about that:
1) He was in a rare position to dictate getting an opportunity to win, something the Phillies were nowhere near being able to do. He didn't disrespect the city or the fans; if anything, he disrespected the franchise, which at the time was eminently disrespectable.
2) When the Phillies finally stopped acting like a small-market team, he made it clear he would welcome a return.
3) None of that drama diminishes his accomplishments and production.
Yes, he was often a PIA, a camera magnet, a loudmouth, a drama queen, and not always the best teammate (who would have thought in November 1993 that Mitch Williams would be more popular than Schilling in this town?). He also deserves to be on the Wall. ejc527

The Wall of Fame is going to be pretty weak after this year. Until this current crop of players retires, it'll be slim pickings. Better to not induct anyone than to put someone in for the sake of it. apreziosi

sms101, I agree. Konstanty should be on the wall. mikemaddog
Wouldn't mind Lieberthal getting in next year. Always liked how he played the game and thought he was underrated robm0202
People, Jim Konstanty won the NL MVP for a pennant-winning Phillies team - he's the clear first choice here, in my opinion. Schilling's biggest accomplishments were with other teams.
Also, I think Dykstra is awaiting trial, not sentencing, isn't he? His co-defednants cut deals but as far as I know Lenny pled not guilty. 1980- I agree because as a reliever in 1950, when the Phils "Whiz Kids" won the National League pennant, Konstanty was named the Most Valuable Player. He appeared in 74 games, a major league record, winning 16 games with a National League leading 22 saves. He made the NL All-Star team and received the AP Athlete of the Year and the TSN Pitcher of the Year awards. His only start of the year was Game One of the 1950 World Series against the New York Yankees. Konstanty gave up only four hits in eight innings but lost 1-0.

Anyone who ask out of the city/team should never be on the wall, PERIOD....who's next Rolen, JD Drew???? Sounds more like battery targets than wall of famers :) Libby should get some consideration for being one of the longest tenued philly athletes for all of Philadelphia not just the Phillies. Dystrka should still be on the wall, I don't care what he's been up to lately, he was the biggest star of the greatest Phillies team ever. Can't represent '93 without NAILS! JuanSamuel4prez
Greg Gross or Mike Ryan. Who wouldn't pay to see those guys get enshrined on the wall. Why don't they induct the Phanatic? guyguy4- The Phanatic was originally portrayed by David Raymond, who worked as an intern in the team's front office and for fifteen years, from 1978 to 1993, he was the Phanatic's "Special Friend". He didn't design him but his imagination and talent pioneered the Phanatic persona. If Mr. Raymond is not already honored on the wall, he certainly should be.

Curt Schilling was integral to the '93 club winning the pennant, and was he just phenomenal in the late '90s. Of course he's a jerk - but this is not for public office. I loved watching him pitch, and I appreciate all of his accomplishments while wearing the red pinstripes. Vote Curt! Elysium Baseball- no wally ritchie? this is a joke! jamarder
Agree, Matt... Shill's stats are hard to ignore, which is why I voted for him. He may have been a supreme PIA in some eyes, but his contributions to the team are clear. TerryW
Why isn't Rudi Meoli on the ballot? alihajishank
Shilling should never be on that wall. He lost that privileg when he begged and cried to leave Philly and forced the Phil's hand in one of the worst trades in the history of the club. Travis Lee my eye.... Much rather see Greg Gross, Jim Konstanty, or Ron Reed up there... topwonk- Schilling begged his way out, but who could blame him. The franchise was in the toilet and he was throwing 9 innings a night. I don't like him. Don't think of him as a Philly. But he was good.
hawk18 - Thank goodness someone else remembers the 'forced' trade. If you force you way out of town, stay off the wall too. Whats next, Scott Rolen ends up next season's ballot? Curt was good for Philly, but when things weren't great, he was like the Captain on that Carnival Cruise ship...1st one off the boat.
drhoffman - Thank you topwonk. That scumbag Schilling should never even mentioned in the same name as the Phillies. If he's elected to the Wall, it will disgrace the people who actually should be on there. Kostanty is the only obvious choice here.
davew31 - Does anyone on this list other than Schilling even deserve consideration? If the Phillies have to go a couple of years without putting someone in their wall of fame, then so be it.
- There are really only 2 obvious choices on the ballot...Schilling and Konstanty whose contributions to the 1950 team continue to be overlooked. sms101
