A few quick injury updates for ya before the game starts:

-Clay Condrey (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Monday in Clearwater.

-Chad Durbin (back) threw a 45-pitch bullpen session today, felt good, and will appear in his first rehab game 8/5 in Clearwater.

-Brett Myers had the day off, will throw a bullpen Monday.

-After grounding out in a pinch-hit at-bat to end the game last night, Shane Victorinio (knee) was out of the lineup today. He's feeling better and hopes to play Tuesday.

-Reports from Rochester, N.Y. indicate that my dad, Ray Martino, has a nasty case of poison ivy from chasing golf balls into the woods.  No word on a timetable for his recovery.

Day game after night game rest for Ibanez. Still healing, though he's getting there.

Yeah, I guess. We are facing a lefty also, but I rather see Dobbs there.

Tell your Dad to be careful that it doesn't get up into the man parts. Very VERY painful.

Bruntlett? Batting .123? Geez, at least Dobbs is hitting .260! And one wonders why the Phillies can't pull away in their division? Ibanez off cause off a day game after night game? What? They have an off day tomorrow to travel home!

What the hek does it matter that we are facing a righty or a lefty? It doesnt matter. This is just ridiculous. Like putting Matt Stairs in against Lincy. Uhm, sometimes ya have to use your intelligence...Not just try to mismatch the pitching...

It's too late this time, but if you think you touched PI, use Technu to wash it off.

Can we send down Bruntlett and bring back Cairo from Lehigh Valley? He's hitting .296 with 11 2B in 233 AB.

Boy, if Myers comes back in a couple of weeks and throws anything like he did 2 years ago as the closer, then he might take over the closer job from Lidge before the end of the season.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
