Injury updates on Worley, Stutes, Herndon
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
Vance Worley requested a second opinion on his sore right elbow, so he saw noted orthopedist James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla., on Monday.
As reported in Monday's Inquirer, Worley has a small bone chip in his right elbow.
"He has a small body embedded in the lining of his joint," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We don't think it's the reason why he had inflammation, but it's possible. This is something that's not very uncommon. But it could be the cause of some of the inflammation. We haven't heard from Andrews."
Worley said Sunday he expects to require offseason surgery to remove the bone chip. When asked if there was any treatment other than rest, Worley said, "Man up. That's the only thing I can do. I'll just grit and grind out there."
Meanwhile, the Phillies will have three injured pitchers see team physician Michael Ciccotti on Tuesday. Mike Stutes, David Herndon and Justin De Fratus have all been limited by injuries and each could receive clearance to throw Tuesday.
Stutes has shoulder soreness while both Herndon and De Fratus are sidelined by elbow trouble.

oh boy!! SyddBarrett
nothing personal against Herndon, but perhaps he might want to take his time before throwing baseballs again, as clueless rube and chollie seem not to realize that he can't get major league batters out warbiscuit
If Herndon is eventually out of a job, warmuffin could hire him to package his hate blogs. NewMick314
I don't usually agree with warbiscuit, but he's right about Herndon. Dave Clemens
Did the Phillies answer all of your questions or do we get another day of boohoohoo's.......... daisy99
that great pitching coach staff really knows how to take of their pitchers workin365
Also agree on Herndon. And his identically hittable twin, Schwimer. eman

If they operate on Worley now, he'll be ready in time for the World Series. orange rhino
