Here Come The Fish

POSTED: Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 11:03 AM

I was just about to publish today's post when -- poof! -- it vanished.

Gone.

I'm not happy about that.

So we're doing a condensed version today because I believe my sanity could use the help. So ... the Phillies open an important three-game series tonight against the Marlins, and the good news for the Phillies is that Jamie Moyer is on the mound. In case you hadn't heard, he's pretty good against the Marlins. And Jim Salisbury takes a look at the preparation Greg Dobbs puts into being the best pinch-hitter in baseball.

Bet that Todd had a few choice words for his computer this morning. Truth, what are you going to do if they actually win it all this year??

Even Zo is not immune to having a post snatched away, held in limbo and reviewed. Take heart, Todd. Maybe it will show up here in a few hours.

Three things I'd like to see this series. 1. J-Roll hit .400 and steal about 4 bags. 2. Something a little better than .240 from the 7 and 8 hole. 3. No walks from the bullpen.

Jeez! Will everybody lay off Zo? In case you've been paying attention, he's probably the most prolific of the sports writers covering the Phils, and I (and many others) think he's doing a great job. Most writers wouldn't even bother to explain why their post is short, or care enough to put anything up. I seriously doubt he's getting paid extra to do this blog. Unless he is. In that case, WTF? :-)

I agree frank. AS I said, he probably is using non publishable language on his 'puter as we type. As for what I want from this serries, how about a 6 game lead on the fish??

Big Series! If the Phils can't beat the Marlins, they don't deserve to win the division this year. Only way they make the playoffs is to win the East because of the ggod teams in the Central. It's sort of embarrassing that the Fish are anywhere near us considering the fact that our payroll is 105 million compared to their 22 million. GO PHILLLLLLS!

Technology a blessing & a curse.....Interesting fact about tonight's pitching match: Josh Johnson was born the same yr. Moyer made his Major League debut. My prediction Moyer 11-0 vs the Fish! GO PHILS!

jeff gross-If they win it all I will be on Broad St just like everyone else! It really is amazing what the Marlins do year after year with no payroll or fan base to speak of. I really think their formula should be patented. Either way I believe the Phillies will sweep this series to win 10 of their last 11 and coast home, with a few bumps in the road of course.

Truth, the fish manage to be exciting every year and finish 3rd or 4th in teh division. What we we do if the Phils did that? We expect them to win the division every year at least. To do this you need a strong core and add the missing ingrediant every year without destroying the core. The late 70's team did this cultimating with the WS win in 80. We need to do it and keep doing it for the next 3-5 years of this core team

Let's hope Madson does not get the nod. Well maybe if the Phils are up by at least 8 runs, no... make that 10 runs.

I keep waiting for the Fish to tank, like everyone predicted. Fish. Tank. Get it? LOL!
