Hamels expects to throw 40-50 pitches Wednesday

Good morning from Clearwater, where it ain't snowing--but it ain't warm, either. A quick update on Cole Hamels, who told me a few minutes ago that he felt good after a bullpen session yesterday, and is on track to make his first appearance of the spring on Wednesday against Team Canada. Hamels anticipates that he will throw 40-50 pitches. He admitted that a busy offseason made it more challenging to be mentally and physically prepared, but said that is is refocused and good to go.

He admitted that a busy offseason made it more challenging to be mentally and physically prepared, but said that he is refocused and good to go.

Thanks, by the way, to the many who welcomed me to the beat last night on this blog. To those of you who were less than welcoming--well, you should have seen what they said about me in New York.

More from the game later in the day.
