We're back in Clearwater this morning, where Cole Hamels just threw 41 pitches in a scheduled bullpen session, and said afterwards that he expects to throw about 50 pitches in a minor league game Tuesday, which GM Ruben Amaro later confirmed. During the bullpen, Hamels rested for about five minutes, to simulate the between-innings experience during which his left elbow had tightened this spring. He said that, other than normal soreness from Tuesday's anti-inflammatory shot, he felt fine.
Also, Chan Ho Park was scratched from his scheduled start today because of lingering hamstring soreness. Park instead threw a bullpen session, said he felt fine, and will pitch Tuesday in Dunedin against the Blue Jays.
And here's the lineup for today's 1:05 game against the Twins.
Kyle Kendrick starts.
