ONE UP
Mario Hollands, a hulking 25-year-old lefthander, made another solid impression with a scoreless inning. Manager Ryne Sandberg said Hollands was so deceptive he fooled the home-plate umpire into calling a strike a ball. "Hey, I gave up on it too quick," the umpire told Sandberg. "It came back with good movement and was a quality pitch."

ONE DOWN
The Phillies are hitting .192 through five Grapefruit League games. They scored once Sunday despite seven hits, two walks, four hit batters and one Pittsburgh error. Kevin Frandsen was 0 for 2 and twice left the bases loaded.
