Box score

Catcher Cameron Rupp smoked Orioles pitcher Miguel Gonzalez in the knee with a line drive. In his next at-bat, Rupp crushed a first-pitch home run to left field. There were few bright spots Friday, and the third-string catcher was one.

Every Phillies pitcher allowed at least one run Friday.

"We haven't been able to play nine innings of baseball through without giving extra outs or having a crooked number go up later in the game coming out of the 'pen," manager Ryne Sandberg said. "There are a lot of things that need to be ironed out in order to give us a chance to win."
