Game times set

POSTED: Sunday, October 11, 2009, 5:11 PM

The game times for this series have been a joke; if you're a 9-to-5er or schoolkid, you haven't been able to watch any of these comfortable.  It'll be better going forward.

According to MLB, tomorrow's Game 4 will be played at 4:07pm ET if the Yankees/Twins series concludes today (the Yanks lead the Twinkies 2-0; they play in about two hours).  If Phils-Rox is the only game tomorrow, they will play at 6:07 ET.

If necessary, Tuesday's Game 5 in Philly will be at 8:07pm.

First of all this doesn't make any sense. You say that if the Yankees series concludes today the Philies will play at 4:07 tomorrow. Then you say if the Phillies game is the only game tomorrow it will be at 6:07? Wouldnt the Yankees winning make the Phillies the only game tomorrow? And enough of the whining about the start times. What time do you want all of the Phillies games to be played Andy? Would 7:30 PM EST be fair to you so that all of the people in Philadelphia can comfortably watch the games? How would that be fair to the people in Denver? There is no exact way to please everyone with these game times. Each series (except Minn/NYY) had two teams playing in time zones at least two hours apart from each other. Furthermore, they are clearly trying to set it up so that all of the games are viewable without being in direct competition of one another. They aren't going to have two games in competition with each other and this isn't the NBA in which you can stagger the games so that there's an off day or two between every game. I'm so tired of everyone whining about the start times. If you are a true fan, sacrifice a little sleep tonight to watch the game or take a nap beforehand. As for the afternoon games, oh well. Many fans complain about the lack of traditional daytime post-season games but when it involves their team there's a big uproar since they can't watch the game at work.

Is tomorrow's game at 4:07 or 6:07. I have a Fifth Grader who CAN watch it at 4:07, but can't watch it (till the end) if it is at 6:07.

Nothing like proofreading your work before you file, huh Andy?

Guy, you are an idiot. All we are asking for is a fair shake. Why not rotate the games through primetime? There was a 6 pm EST game everyday since the playoffs started, none of which were the Phillies.

It is a good thing we have Murph's comments right below Andy's, so that we know what is going on. Murph is careful, accurate and informative. Andy leaves you scratching your head. Since Todd is gone, can we have someone else next year?

No Phils1208, you are the idiot. I'll break it down for you. On Wednesday there were three games. One was in Anaheim so clearly they weren't going to play that at 2PM (11 AM PST); that would be silly. Okay, so theoretically they could have had the Yankees/Twins play at 2:37 on Tuesday and given the Phillies the 6:37 game. However, that wouldn't really be fair to the Twins who had just completed their season the previous night nor the Yankees who had the best record in the regular season. Therefore, the Phillies naturally went into the 2:37 slot. On Thursday, the only two games besides the Phillies were both played in Los Angeles! How were either one of those going to start at 11:37 AM PST? So once again, there wasn't really a choice with the time of that game. And lastly today. You had a game in the Eastern time, two scheduled for central time and one Mountain time. Which one of those games does it logically makes sense to play last? I'm sorry the time zones of the teams opposing the Phillies inconveniences you. Another Philadelphia conspiracy I guess.

Sorry, in my above post, I meant the other game on Wednesday was played in Los Angeles, not Anaheim (same point) and that it would have been unfair to make the Twins/Yankees play the first game on WEDNESDAY.

I actually agree with guyguy4. Think of how much worse the times would have been if we had played the Dodgers in the first round...While it does suck that we haven't had a game time more convenient for us, that's really on the fact that we're playing the Rockies and not on TBS or MLB. There's really nothing that could have been done about it. Hey, if we get past the Rox, we know that the game times will get better.

guyguy4: Even if the Phils played at the same time as another team, they'd still get more viewers than a 2:37pm weekday game. Two afternoon weekday games is stupid any way you look at it. And why not a 9pm start tonight (7pm mountain) instead of 10pm? Tonight's game figures to end around 1-1:30am (as long as it doesn't go into extra innings), for crying out loud.

Or if you are REALLY upset with MLB and networks regarding how they scheduled the Phillies games, phone MLB at 212 - 931 - 7800 and ask for Public Relations. They HAVE been hearing from people. So call and voice your complaint like I did, if you are/were really upset/angry that is.
