Game 6 lineups: Rollins leads off

POSTED: Saturday, October 23, 2010, 3:56 PM

Apparently Jimmy Rollins' two stolen bases in Game 5 were enough proof for Charlie Manuel that his leadoff hitter is healthy enough to bat at the top of the lineup.

Rollins returns to the leadoff spot for the second time this postseason in Game 6. Rollins batted leadoff in five games at the end of the regular season and was 4 for 18.

But against the lefthander Jonathan Sanchez, Rollins will be batting from his stronger side (right) and Manuel must like the matchup.

Here's the full lineup:

1. Jimmy Rollins SS
2. Placido Polanco 3B
3. Chase Utley 2B
4. Ryan Howard 1B
5. Jayson Werth RF
6. Shane Victorino CF
7. Raul Ibanez LF
8. Carlos Ruiz C
9. Roy Oswalt P

It's the first time the Phillies are using that lineup this season.

The Giants' lineup is as follows:

1. Andres Torres CF
2. Freddy Sanchez 2B
3. Aubrey Huff 1B
4. Buster Posey C
5. Pat Burrell LF
6. Cody Ross RF
7. Juan Uribe 3B
8. Edgar Renteria SS
9. Jonathan Sanchez P

I think this will prove to be a good move on Charlie's part. Rollins, although not 100% healthy, has got his legs back and looks poised to string some good games together. Plus, although Shane has hit Sanchez well, and did good down the stretch, he has struggled somewhat in the lead-off spot in the NLCS. But again, more than anything, this is the lineup Charlie envisioned going to war with.

Sweeney over Howard?..haha....seriously? Amazes me how the Phillies "fan" really has no clue at all. Not saying Sweeney wouldn't get it done but are you really kidding me about putting Howard on the bench? Howard deserves to play until there are no more games to play. Perhaps watching this guy play all year long for the last 5 would give any Howard haters a clue. I was almost expecting these same bashers or shall i say boxscore bandits to want Dobbs to be playing 3rd, Polanco at 2nd, and for Utley to be on the bench with Howard.(yeah i know, I know..Dobbs is not even on the active roster for the NLCS, but you wouldn't know that anyways! ) Come on clueless people.....

Hey anybody see Harold Reynolds suggest on MLB TV that the Giants may have been stealing pitch signals? He noted that when the Phils went to heads-shoulders-knees sequence starting in innning six the Giants bats went quiet and the Phillies troubled pen suddenly was tougher. May mean nothing but it will be intersting to see if the trend continues. Shades of '51 and the Bobby Thompson fiasco.

I cant wait till Howard homers tonight and stops all you wierdos from trying to bench an All Star with a guy who was getting waived by THE MARINERS. I mean seriously, bench Howard because he struggled? People do break out of slumps. What if tonight is the night he breaks out and you want him on the bench? Please don't drink his koolaid when the big piece goes big time tonight.

Let's bench Ryan Howard for Sweeney. Are you people serious? By the way Werth has not been lights out either, and moving him to cleanup is not a good idea. You have to put your faith in Howard, Utley and Rollins and hope they come through. The Yankees don't bench Jeter, A-Rod and Posada if they are struggling.
