Game 5 Postponed (Again)

Game 5 of the World Series has been postponed again.
There is NO GAME TONIGHT.
It has been tentatively rescheduled to begin at 8:37 p.m. tomorrow night at Citizens Bank Park, weather pemitting.
Ticket Information: Fans holding tickets for Game 5 should use their ticket(s) for re-entry. The game is sold out.
Parking Information: Fans with parking passes from Monday (October 27) or receipts will be permitted to gain re-entry into the parking lots. Fans that no longer have their passes or receipts will need to pay.
Gate Openings: All Citizens Bank Park gates will open at 5:30 p.m.
Public Transportation: Fans are encouraged to use public transportation. In addition to the World Series game at Citizens Bank Park, there is 6:00 p.m. Sixers game at the Wachovia Center.
Do I even bother asking why 8:37? I guess MLB still hasn't learned not to let Fox dictate times of games. Why should kids have to endure a time like this. Instead of making the 3 1/2 inning farce early so players can get to Fl at a reasonible hour (if needed) they make sure they will fly in middle of night to play on Thurs night. What jokers jeff gross
8:37 is for the Obama advertisement to be played in it's entirety. Mike H.
No, my bad, that's on Thursday night. Mike H.
I think Barack Obama has bought national air time for tomorrow and the game would've started at that time anyway. I'm glad MLB had the sense to postpone it until tomorrow (even though tomorrow might not be much better). KarenA
At least the fans can make reasonable plans to attend with a set time and date. bird-dog
Barack will definitely be on tomorrow night with an informative 1/2 hr message to the country. He will be inspirational, he will be eloquent and he will present his closing arguement directly to the public w/out filters. I think his move is pure genius. I encourage all of you to get out and vote the following Tuesday b/c we can not tolerate another 8 yrs of Republican rule. Say what you will about Barack but his policy's can't possibly be worse than Bushes, heck it will take all eight yrs(if elected) to bring us back to where we were when Clinton left office. Our economy lays in ruin, our national honor is lost and most importantly our sense of self as a country is diminshed. Barack is the 'one' that can lead us out of this abyss and help restore our nation to the prominent role envisioned by our founding fathers, we can again be a beacon of hope in the world. YES WE CAN... Truth- Tomorrow night should have no rain, but it will be COLD and WINDY. That may be better for the Phils. Everyone was talking about the Rays playing up north; now we'll see how they handle it when the series is on the line. As for why the 8:37 start time, it's simple: They can add millions of viewers on the west coast by not starting at say 7. True, these are east coast teams, but still, there are plenty of baseball fans out west who will watch if the game is on TV when they get home from work, but will not watch if it's on at 4pm their time. No big deal in this case, since it should be only a 3-inning game. Over by 10. Celebration 10pm-6am. Shower. Go to work. bobby
- Man, the last thing we need here is political blather. bobby
I should have never brought it up. Mike H.
So IF there is a Game 7, might Hamels go? If he wins that, can he say he was 5-0-1 in the postseason? :) ha ha NO GAME 7! Or 6. Finish this thing. Please. NJLouis66
Truth I couldn't agree more....now back to baseball! GO PHILS! KarenA

Please no political stuff here. I actually like it here. NJLouis66
I could handle a 8:30 start, but 8:37?? give me a break. Let's make an agrement, no politics on the blog. We've had suck a great time this season, lt's not ruin it by talking poitics. They're both great guys who will do the US proud. (enough said) jeff gross
oops, that was suposed to be such a good time. My bad jeff gross
Finally a smart decision by MLB. danielswolf- Most recent article from MLB.com states: "Games 6 and 7, if necessary, would take place in the domed confines of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, though no determination has been made on the scheduling of those contests. They were originally to be played Wednesday and Thursday, respectively." Do they really expect everyone involved in the WS to be up all night after Game 5, get to the Tampa hotels around dawn, and be ready to roll with arguably the greatest sports show on earth later that day? The serendipidty of all this BS is that hopefully they will keep the travel day in order, giving us Hamels for a Saturday night game 7 if needed. RAS
This is what should have been done early at game time yesterday. I've been to a couple Phillies games like this one this year. They keep you waiting like dogs in the rain and what are you to do? You've paid your money for the game, you have to park, you ordered a hot dog... This game isn't meant to be played in such bad conditions. phillywebcast
I sure hope people saved their tickets. NJLouis66
jeez- I thought a little political commentary just might take our minds off last nights travesty. I am happy that it went down the way it did though. What if Selig would have called the gm after 5 1/2 innings and he awarded the Phils the series. Imagine after all these years we would be on Broad St celebrating a victory with an asterik by it.....It just wouldn't have been the same. I kind hope we lose when this gm restarts and we win an honest game (even if its in Florida). The players getting off the plane always makes for a cool front page. Truth- Fans who were at home, warm and dry for Game 5 will have the same spots on their coaches and recliners. bobby
- Did I say "coaches"?? Yikes. That's completely between you and your coach. lol bobby
I think that fans should bring rain jackets and buckets of water to dump on Bud and Gang. PH for Hammels (he can't pitch I know, but it would be fun if he could) should be either So-what, or Dobbs. We need a baserunner and not a HR attempt. jeff gross
Bobby-that's monday morning coaches?? or is it Tues morning Coaches jeff gross
for heavens sake, give EVERYbody a break and wait till thursday to play, when at least precipition will be gone and hopefully winds will be manageable...maybe temps will be a little warmer, too. Any fans that end up with pneumonia oughta send their doc bills to whoever makes these decisions! IMO, the way the weather reports kept getting worse by the hour BEFORE the game, they never should've started it on Monday night. But whatever...GO PHILLIES, we want that championship! NJPat- MLB shoudl do something really novel here and reschedule the rest of Game 5 for the next time the temp will break 50 degrees. That means about 3pm Thursday afternoon. Day game, kids can see the game, celebration happens during daylight. Restore a little fan-friendliness to the game, Bud. bobby
I'm with you bobby. Finally we agree. I still think that players and team management need to make their displeasure clear to Bud and MLB jeff gross
DON'T GET ME STARTED ON LAST NIGHT'S GAME!!!! I'll spare everybody the scathing, 1000 word email I sent to anyone I thought would listen. Plus, it ruined a perfectly great time that my friends and I were having at a local sports bar!!! LOL! My son's been listening to Howard Eskin. Howard said that he spoke with someone in the Phillies organization, and there will DEFINITELY be a travel day. They also reported that MLB now says the game won't be completed until THURS. Of course, none of this is official. AND....You have to consider the source! Norma
Norma; Send me the book, er e-mail. eilatman69@yahoo.com I'd love to read all about your sports bar escapades jeff gross
