just a little surprised again that dobbs isnt starting. just would have liked to see the extra pop in line up. but i understand the defense. not much behind victorino so they may not pitch to him much

It's pretty simple. You have your ace on the mound, so you put your best defense on the field. If you need Dobbs later, you use him to PH, where he's most valuable.

I don't mind them not pitching to Victorino, as long as he works a walk instead. Because of his speed, his walks are more likely to fuel rallies than Howard's or Burrell's. NOTE TO HOWARD AND BURRELL: That does NOT mean you shouldn't try to walk. It's better than swinging 1,000 mph and striking out.

no it isnt that simple. dobbs actually has played well at third. he adds another bat for a game that, according to all the "experts", will be hard to score runs. i would rather have dobbs bat a few times and use feliz at 3rd late if they want to. but again, just like the other night when i said it, it is not like this is the difference between playing chase or bruntlett.

It's really sad how people can be negative right now when we had 2-0 lead and now a 3-1 lead with our ace on the mound in the deciding game, and I thought I was a cynic, honestly what will make this guy scooter happy.

Ryan Madson is a different pitcher today than he was prior to the last month or so. He never showed this confidence or killer instinct before. The Phils look like they have a solid setup man for next year.

What I wrote before the game: "Career-maker for Cole Hamels. I don't want to overstate things, but tonight could be a huge step toward the legend status everyone (including Cole Hamels himself) thinks Cole Hamels can achieve. A so-so record belies his better-then-solid performance this season, but it's his pitching in these playoffs that has everyone thinking World Series today, with Hamels on the mound tonight. Lose, and the questions resurface: Can he be dominant when it counts most? Is he a true team player? Win, and those questions go bye-bye. Jamie Moyer, Brett Myers, and Brad Lidge all have the term "clinch" attached to their names starting with last year's division championship. Tonight, Cole Hamels can go beyond adding himself to that list. He can confirm the terms "#1" and "ace" as well. He will then be perched on a ledge, ready to ascend to the summitt, joining those starting pitchers who rule the league for years, and have World Series rings (maybe even MVP's) to show for it. Tonight's game is the doorway. All you have to do, Cole, is walk on through." Cole, welcome to the World Series. Welcome to greatness.
