CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Good morning from Florida, where it is finally starting to warm up. We might actually crack 70 degrees on Sunday, so that is something to celebrate.
The Phillies are about to board a bus for a 50-mile trip south to Bradenton for a game against the Pirates. Joe Blanton will make his first start of the spring (and his first appearance as a Phillie since signing a 3-year, $24 million contract in the off-season).
A good deal of the regulars are making the trip today. Here is the lineup:
1. Dewayne Wise 8
2. Greg Dobbs 5
3. Chase Utley 4
4. Ryan Howard 3
5. Raul Ibanez 7
6. Domonic Brown 9
7. John Mayberry Jr. DH
8. Carlos Ruiz 2
9. Freddy Galvis 6
Blanton will start and be relieved by Danys Baez, Mike Zagurski and B.J. Rosenberg. The Phillies will oppose a familiar face in Jack Taschner.
MOYER'S NEXT START
Following a successful first outing in a B game on Friday, Jamie Moyer will make his second start of the spring in another B game on Wednesday against Toronto. Moyer pitched three scoreless innings in his debut.
LIDGE CLOSE TO SEEING BATTERS
Brad Lidge told me this morning he could be within a week of facing batters for the first time this spring. Lidge threw a bullpen on one day rest on Friday for the first time this spring. He will throw at least one more bullpen before perhaps going against hitters.
That's all for now. Gotta hit the road ...
