Game 3 NLCS Lineup

POSTED: Sunday, October 12, 2008, 5:10 PM

Here are the lineups for Game 3 of the NLCS tonight at Dodger Stadium:

Phillies

  1. Jimmy Rollins, SS
  2. Shane Victorino, CF
  3. Chase Utley, 2B
  4. Ryan Howard, 1B
  5. Pat Burrell, LF
  6. Jayson Werth, RF
  7. Pedro Feliz, 3B
  8. Carlos Ruiz, C
  9. Jamie  Moyer, P

Dodgers

  1. Rafael Furcal, SS
  2. Andre Ethier, RF
  3. Manny Ramirez, LF
  4. Russell Martin, C (
  5. Nomar Garciaparra, 1B
  6. Casey Blake, 3B
  7. Matt Kemp, CF
  8. Blake DeWitt, 2B
  9. Hiroki Kuroda, P

Notes: Garciaparra has hit .417 (15 for 36) with one homer and five RBIs in his career against Moyer. Ramirez has hit .340 (18 for 53) with 10 homers and 20 RBIs. I haven't had many problems with the way the Phillies have pitched Ramirez so far, but my Lord, don't the Phillies have to totally pitch around him tonight?

There are brush fires about 20 miles as the crow flies from Dodger Stadium. The air is full of soot and might make playing conditions unusual/difficult.

Where is everyone? Tonight the Phillies can effectively close the deal. I have no doubts that they will ultimately win the series. I do have doubts about Moyer. He has to be spent-its been a long season, he has not hit above 84mph all season and after the seasons wear and tear he is @ 81 mph max....Well I hope he hits his spots and has exquisite control b/c he will need it. P.S. The pregame announcers on FOX are sickening. Completely in the LA tank. Its really sad they should be fired!!!

Norma, what do you think about Utley taking the bat outta Ryans hands? He was having a pretty good at bat. That stolen base attempt was as bad as the time he misssed the bag a few wks ago.... That is Chase Utley!! Let me guess Norma, he gets a pat on the back for the "charlie hustle in him" and oh well go get 'em next time slugger I bet...

Manny Ramirez "professional hitman" Jaime is simply overmatched. This could get ugly.

Our "elder statesman" is washed up. Big difference btwn playoffs and regular season. Yes he did clinch two regular season division title's but this is the NLCS.

It's still early....maybe the Phils can rally?!? I was sad to see Moyer have such an awful game. On a side note: It's amazing the difference btwn the "fans" at Dodger stadium as opposed to CBP. LA & Scott F were rattling off all the celebs in attendance...(I refused to listen to Joe Buck & Tim McCarver)God I love Philly! GO PHILS!

Truth - I guess you'll continue to ignore the fact that Utley is having a decent series. Why must you complain every day? Is the playoffs!! It may have been a bad time to go, however he was safe. The tag was high.

I guess it was bound to happen....no one expected the Phils to sweep. On the bright side, at least Ryan Howard got a few hits. However, Rollins and Werth continue to do nothing. Actually, Werth is hurting the Phillies this series. Aside from very few scattered at-bats, it is obvious that Werth is over-matched against most righthanded pitching. As Joe Torre said, this is the playoffs and you cannot be concerned with hurting someone's feelings...you gotta put out the players that give you the best chance to win, and Werth has shown basically nothing against rhp's. At any rate, we still have a 2 games to 1 lead....and I have a good feeling about Blanton tomorrow. We just need the offense to get rolling. And yes,Utley was safe on the steal attempt AND I thought it was a good time to run. Howard had two strikes and chances were pretty good he was going to strike out. Even if Utley gets caught, Howard is leading off the next inning with a fresh count.

Bottom line: This loss is really no shock. I love Jamie, but we (the fans) have been overestimating his abilities most of this season. He's a solid starter still, especially when facing younger hiters during the course of the regular season, but he is obviously limited in what he can do. What's most disturbing about his performance tonight was the fact that he was getting the calls and still got rocked. The pitch he threw to DeWitt on the triple was right down main street, and at Jamie's speed that means 'batting practice'. That one pitch effectively ended the game. If he makes a good pitch there and gets the out, he escapes the inning down 2-0, and it's a whole different game. Again, I love Jamie, but I'll say this now: If we go to Game 7 on Saturday night, I don't think I could start him in that situation. Problem is the only other option is to start Blanton, since Hamels and Myers will have pitched Weds and Fri respectively. That's what I would do, start Blanton over Moyer if we go to Game 7. Let's hope we can end this in 5 or 6 games. GO PHILS!!

Dobbs in OF over Werth vs RHP would look really good right now. Too bad Dobbs didnt play much OF in the regular season

Guess what, Truth......I groaned as load as anyone at Chase's stolen base attempt. But it's not like he hasn't stolen bases before. And has only been caught a couple of times. I do appreciate your attempt at sarcasm, though. LOL! Glad to see your boy at least get a couple of hits.
