Game 66: Oh, Canada

POSTED: Friday, June 15, 2012, 3:42 PM

TORONTO — The Phillies arrived north of the border early Friday morning and will play two games in less than 24 hours against the Blue Jays. But they landed with good vibes after two wins in Minnesota and some positives to build upon.

What will help is having Vance Worley no longer on a pitch restriction. He only threw 80 and 93 pitches in his first two starts back from the disabled list. This time, he should be able to go deeper.

He'll also hope for some better defense behind him. In his last start, Worley was charged with three runs, all unearned. Charlie Manuel's lineup looks a little different in that Placido Polanco is sitting after two days of activity.

1. Jimmy Rollins 6
2. Juan Pierre 7
3. Hunter Pence 9
4. Jim Thome 0
5. Shane Victorino 8
6. Carlos Ruiz 2
7. Ty Wigginton 3
8. Mike Fontenot 5
9. Michael Martinez 4

The Phillies will face Drew Hutchison, a 21-year-old rookie with a 4.66 ERA in 10 starts.

The Jays are a fastball hitting club. This will be a good test for Worley and the movement on his fastball. It could go well and hegets 12 Ks....it could go very bad and he gets hammered for 5 HRs.....

It may not matter as the Phils are facing another CY candidate in that rookie Hutchinson. They'll probably get shutout.

LOL Mark1, make a prediction and stick with it like i do. Im 6-2 0n my predictions and i predict the Phillies will win 7-4. Vanimal will struggle for the first three and then he will be fine once he settles in. The relievers will give up a couple of runs but we hold on and win. Two home runs will be hit by the Phillies and my guess is Pence and J-slow.

You guys are so funny! Let's just hope they win, but in the liklihood they don't, we gotta be able to kid about it some. Will be interesting to see which of the scenerios above unfolds tonight.

Do the Blue Jays have any good players? The Twins series was a real yawner because even Mauer and Morneau (the only interesting players on the team) didn't do much.

I hear ya Mark1, I just thought it was funny that u said he could do good and he could do bad. I was just laughing to myself and saying, ok, what else is there for him to do. The first sentence above came off harsher then what i was thinking, sorry about that. You are one of the few posters on here that i actually read the post, cause you make sense, and seem to know what your talking about. I can get a little crazy with my posts, some funny, some ridiculous, but at the end of the day, i dont mean any disrespect to anyone. I do wish my prediction will come true, lets see who comes close to what they said just for the fun of it.

@hunt......sorry you have to work on Fri night......and I'm really pissed that I'm winning the prediction game but this team is so pitiful and becoming just too predictable. They play almost as if they have no advance scoutiung and have never watched a single tape of any of these rookie no name pitchers that keep beating them like an ugly stepchild......it is getting flat out ridiculous! No offense taken earlier Mike :) I was trying to be funny with my 2 way prediction too......

Thought they had something going there in the 8th started of course by Pierre (not NoRoll).....and ? You have Schneider hit against the lefty? Say goodbye and good night........Where's Kratz for that AB? And what happened to Chooch, is he hurt?

Thats ok Mark1, its all good here, at least i know someone on here can still have fun. The not so funny thing is that you just may have hit the nail on the head with what you said about a shutout. Unless they have a great 8-9 inning, my prediction wasnt even in the ball park, but ill bet all the Phillies hits were! LMAO.
