Game 5: A Canadian at second and more boos

The lineup on the day after the first Phillies loss of the season looks a bit different. But it was by design a few days ago, Charlie Manuel said.

So Pete Orr slides in at second base for his first start and will bat second. Backup catcher Brian Schneider -- the last player on the roster to see the field -- will catch Joe Blanton tonight and bat eighth.

Orr, 31, did not play at all in the majors in 2010 and said he had his doubts while at triple-A Syracuse.

"It feels good," Orr said. "The minor leagues are tough. It's more mental than anything. When you're there for a whole year without going back to the big-leagues, you start to question yourself and your career. It does mean a lot that I'm here and I have an opportunity."

Spoke to Kyle Kendrick briefly. He has a plan on how to stay sharp from the bullpen that he adopted at the suggestion of Roy Halladay. Read Thursday's Inquirer for more on that.

He did throw his changeup effectively during his 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief Tuesday. His only strikeout -- of Angel Pagan -- came on the change. He threw it more than his cutter, which was his second pitch in 2010.
