Michael Young has started 76 career games at first base, but none as a member of the Phillies. He will do that in Sunday's finale against Cincinnati as the Phillies attempt to win a series.

Young has displayed immaculate patience this season. He leads the team in walks with 22. That is significant because while Young has always hit for a high batting average, his on-base percentage is hurt by a lack of walks. Young's walk rate is 13.6 percent in 2013. His career rate before this season was 6.6 percent.

He qualifies as one of the few bright spots for a sputtering offense.

Ryan Howard and Delmon Young both sit against Homer Bailey, a righthander. Ben Revere, after sitting the previous four games, is back in center and batting second.
