Another lefty on the mound and another day off for Raul Ibanez.

Ibanez is 0 for his last 30. He's rested against the last few lefthanded starters to face the Phillies. But in Arizona, Charlie Manuel said he wasn't ready to create a straight-up platoon between Ibanez and John Mayberry Jr.

But Ibanez hasn't played four of the last five times the Phillies faced a lefthander.

Manuel's actions speak louder than words. Mayberry is 3 for 10 in his past three starts and he'll have another chance against the Mets' Jonathon Niese. Obviously, if Mayberry can't take advantage of his opportunity, it could mean this pseudo platoon (or whatever you want to call it) won't last long.

Ibanez's 0 for 30 hitless streak is the longest for a Phillies position player since Desi Relaford went 0 for 36 in 1998.

With the lefty on the mound, Manuel will also sit Brian Schneider, meaning Dane Sardinha will start and catch Roy Halladay. He caught two of Halladay's starts in 2010 (17 innings) and the pitcher had a 2.65 ERA in those innings. (Of course, catcher's ERA is a dangerous metric to judge anything by.)

J.C. Romero said he'll do one rehab assignment, Tuesday at single-A Lakewood. If that goes well, he could be activated Wednesday. That is the first day he is eligible to be activated.

***

Carlos Ruiz said he's feeling better. The Phillies will likely give him a few more days off.

The full lineup below:

1. Shane Victorino 8
2. Placido Polanco 5
3. Jimmy Rollins 6
4. Ryan Howard 3
5. Ben Francisco 9
6. John Mayberry Jr. 7
7. Wilson Valdez 4
8. Dane Sardinha 2
9. Roy Halladay 1
