PITTSBURGH — Charlie Manuel said he expects to tinker with his lineup often in the early parts of the season. For Game 2 of 2012, he makes only one change.

Laynce Nix is at first base with Ty Wigginton on the bench. Pittsburgh will start a righthander, Jeff Karstens, so the lefty Nix will have his first shot.

Nix has made only six career starts at first base and all six came in 2011 with Washington.
