Game 101: More of the same
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
We noted a few remarkable statistics through the 100-game point in Monday's game story -- namely that the Phillies have the second-most wins in franchise history at this point in any season.
We also noted the Phillies have allowed fewer runs than any other Phillies team after 100 games since the Dead Ball Era ended in 1919.
Expanding on that: The 332 runs allowed by the 2011 Phillies through 100 games are the fewest allowed by any team since the 1989 Dodgers. Amazingly, that Los Angeles team finished with a 77-83 record.
One other thing to note: The Phillies lead the National League with a .273 batting average and .774 OPS in the month of July. Over a 25-day stretch, those aren't terribly impressive numbers to lead the league with, but that's the current climate of baseball.
They go for six straight wins with a familiar lineup:
1. Jimmy Rollins 6
2. Michael Martinez 5
3. Chase Utley 4
4. Ryan Howard 3
5. Shane Victorino 8
6. Raul Ibanez 7
7. Domonic Brown 9
8. Carlos Ruiz 2
9. Cliff Lee 1

If they get to the playoffs or WS. the one guy getting in the way is Ryan Howard and compunds the problem by batting fourth.
He is an easy out for any control pitcher and a sure fire rally killer.
Stay tuned I'll tell you what he has to do. Lew Klein
What do you think of Shane in the 5 hole? The Phillies hit pretty well as a team with him behind Ryan. When Placido comes back, we just move him into the No. 2 slot and keep Shane at #5 and I think that's a pretty good lineup. schmolik
