Great to have these guys coming up and providing a little breather for some of the guys. I'm still struggling with why romero wasn't used to preserve the win against the mets the other night. we needed the win badly - bad enough to lose him for a game or two with the cubs. It just strikes me that it was critical to get that win. Two supporting elements: 1) phils play 13 games against tough teams down the stretch and Mets play only 10 games; 2) giving up a game to the mets head to head is not the right thing to do. We're going to need to sweep the mets at shea because of that bad decision. We could be dead even right now, but instead we're back a game. (just think if the umps did their job in any of the prior 4 games before we won today without controversy). Charlie's talking about how everyone has to play better - he needs to up his game considerably too.

Golson can pinch run, Marson adds depth and Happ is another arm in long relief. Eaton could spell the Phanatic on hot days, assuming he can ride the trike around the field.

So instead of PR Taguchi for Burrell late in games they will use Golson instead. Can we just DFA Taguchi now? And awesome news about Marson... wonder what Jaramillo must be thinking if he doesn't get the call too

Nice win today! We got through the toughest remaining series on our schedule. Getting out of Chi-town only one game back is a good thing. As for Eaton, someone has to pitch the 9th inning in those 15-2 games and run out to pick up the Schmitter's for the other guys in the bullpen.

Jaramillo should be called too. He can be used as a pinch hitter against lefties and righties (he is a swicth hitter) and I think he should be a better catcher defensively that Marson. He got more experience. But I am exciting to see Marson.

It's funny how this organization's best offensive prospects are catchers, yet they continue to throw double play machine Ruiz out there.

Watson should be called up. He hit .300 on a bad LV team. He has experience in the bigs. Golson will be overmatched at the plate. He does add speed and possibly defensive help.

The Phil's making this move now with Marson, perhaps he will show enough good signs to get a solid chance of playing next year. Question...If he does play, does this negate a rookie of year possibility next year?

Will Eaton throw BP to the squad? Great series (should have taken 3 of 4), but I'm a little concerned about Burrell. Is Pat back in the 2006 Funk?

Oh, and Carrasco? Can it really hurt to have him around the big club when the Reading season is over, if it isn't already? Even just to throw a few innnings here and there.

Eaton frees up Condrey from garbage duty, that's about all. Marson needs to see how it's done at the ML level. Golson creates more team speed and defense, therby negating Taguchi next year and Happ is a decent starter in case someone gets hurt or we need a long man from another 2 inning outing from one of our starters. Good use of employees with these call-ups....they should make us a stronger team next year......why do we have to keep saying, next year with this team?

More about today's game......Werth's play against the Cubbies solidifies my thoughts on putting him between Utley and Howard. I'm almost positive that Chase has been on base 3 times in all four of these games. Two hits in each game, and HBP or drew a walk in each game. Yet, he was only able to score a couple of runs total. With Werth hitting well, and Burrell in *funk*, it's a no brainer. But, I'm not the manager. Too bad. LOL!

Logic- unless Marson gets a ton of AB's this September (I think it is over 100) he'll still be considered a "rookie" next year. I think we'll see a couple of more arms up here, maybe Carpenter and Castro and maybe another OF and IF (Harman and Bohn?) once their seasons are over. Norma, my only concern about moving Werth is he looks very comfortable where he is in the order right now, I don't want to move him out of his comfort zone.

I'm trying to put a positive spin on Eaton call up. There's always hope he can turn it around. Look at what Gavin Floyd is doing in the American league no less. As I was saying, only spin. Anyone else get an "Imodium moment" with Madsen facing Soriano in the 8th inning..He's killing me !

KMG....I understand your point about Werth's *comfort zone*. Aside from moving Shane down, drastic changes in the line-up haven't worked out all that well. Chase has been hitting better since Charlie moved him up a spot. But hard to tell if it's less pressure on Chase (having to advance J.Roll and Shane) or just his getting out of his little slump.

As for moving Eaton back.....I think it's just an extra arm. Doubt he'll see much playing time. Unless, as someone already said, we're up by 10 runs. Then he can give the rest of the 'pen a day off.

I'm sure the Eaton call up was a promise made to him when he agreed to be sent down.

To all of you who were ragging the mang that they wouldn't bring Marson up because of service time---take that--here he is. sometimes mang does get it right.

No, it won't negate Marson his rookie status. He's going to be in the majors for only 25 games or so. He has to have at least 250 at bats or be in the majors some amount of games like 80 or something to lose his rookie status. I have to double check on the at bats and games, but is something like that.

Well it looks like doesn't matter anyway. Two chances for Marson/Golson get an AB and knucklehead pinch hits with Ruiz/Bruntlett. It's sad that when you're down to 2 outs in 7-3 ballgame that you won't even give the young kids an AB. I'm sure Eaton was his next pinch hitter anyway . . .

adam eaton should be released and play for the padres or something again. the pads have the best pitchers park in the league- if eaton doesn't improve there, he should just quit and return to his old job as pancake boy at ihop
