I know you're looking for a trade update, but so far there is none to report. But there is an update on Pedro Feliz, who is on the 15-day DL with lower back inflammation.

Feliz had a MRI on his back yesterday and was examined by team physician Michael Ciccotti. Back specialist Todd Albert at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital then examined Feliz today, when he had an epidural injection. Feliz has a mild disc bulge in his back. He will not take part in any baseball-related activities until sometime next week.

Feliz can be activated from the DL on Aug. 9 against Pittsburgh, if he's ready.

Truth, I'm with you on Ras's the "Manny was going to join the rest of the Dominicans in MLB on the Mets". Low rent comment, not worthy of this blog. But your AMERIKKKA crack is just as much race baiting as his comment. The Phillies team I root for is red and white, I'd like Chase just as much if he was Dominican or Ryan if he was a main line WASP. Grow up, both of you.

KMG: I would have liked to see an acquisition too, but at what cost? Anybody can be had for the asking price. I didn't read about any so-and-so for so-and-so deals that fell apart due to Gillick's reticence to close the deal. Let's face it, the non contending GMs have the contenders like Gillick by the short hairs this time of year. So it's probably unfair to criticize Phils' brass for moves they didn't make, as we didn't know what the stakes were. As an example, one of the more disturbed bloggers on this site made a big deal about not getting Rauch from the Nats for a song like Arizona did. No GM in his right mind (Jim Bowden in this case) would strengthen an intra-division rival at this time of year at the expense of the others. It doesn't work that way for contending clubs.

I said yesterday we had to wait until the deadline to judge the moves the Phillies made. I try to stay positive but I think not getting a left-handed reliever and a bat for this bench is an absolute failure and it sends a terrible signal to this team that management is not prepared to do what it takes to win. I've argued for awhile that management is willing to spend, within a reasonable budget, what it takes to win. Today, I feel like I am wrong.

*Be interesting to see if Lannan comes inside and high to Chase tonight. And if he does, let Kendrick drill their 3-4-5, get thrown out and let Happ finish.* GREAT idea, clinton, nj! I've been warning Chase to not crowd the plate. LOL! But we know that's not gonna happen. I hope my mojo reaches to DC, and I can put the jinx on Lannan.

OK. Here's a question. The ESPN read on the Phils, was that we didn't have much to offer from the minors after the trade for Blanton. Probably true. But what happened to the rumors about Werth, Victorino and others, being trade-bait? Oh yeah. RUMORS.

RAS whats up with the constant race baiting, that is not what a post racial Amerikkka is about. So what Manny did not go to the Mets. So what the Phillies win the division. I guess you want to have parade b/c they won the division, huh? Thats the best possible outcome for this season. RAS celebrate by yourself, loser.

Now that the clock has struck 12, I really didn't expect the Phils to do anything significant, however I'm surpised the Mets didn't do anything either. This is good news for our guys. I had a hunch Manny was going to join the rest of the Dominicans in MLB on the Mets. So the Mets still have no outfield, no bench, a real shaky bullpen, and a rotation that is questionable at best with the real deal Johan Sanatana, John "on the way to the DL" Maine, will the real Oliver Perez please stand up, Pedro, who is leaking oil, and Pelfry who is just a pretender. (He got bombed again last night). Sometimes the deals that don't get made are the best of all. Therefore, THE METS HAVE NO CHANCE to make the playoffs, unless they pull a waiver wire miracle. It will be more about Florida, rather than the Mets, trying to catch the Phillies in a couple of weeks.

Distractions? What distractions? The only one that should have been worried about getting traded is Myers. This team won't even make it into the playoffs.

Looks like what we have is what we have....maybe the distractions hanging over the boys' heads the past 6 weeks may finally be over and done with.....lets see if they can concentrate better and play more consistently the rest of the way.....

Tick, tock, tick, tock...life on the trade front. Todd, you must hate this day like no other. No trade we go nuts, bad trade we go nuts, any trade we second guess to death. Be interesting to see if Lannan comes inside and high to Chase tonight. And if he does, let Kendrick drill their 3-4-5, get thrown out and let Happ finish.
