I know you're looking for a trade update, but so far there is none to report. But there is an update on Pedro Feliz, who is on the 15-day DL with lower back inflammation.

Feliz had a MRI on his back yesterday and was examined by team physician Michael Ciccotti. Back specialist Todd Albert at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital then examined Feliz today, when he had an epidural injection. Feliz has a mild disc bulge in his back. He will not take part in any baseball-related activities until sometime next week.

Feliz can be activated from the DL on Aug. 9 against Pittsburgh, if he's ready.

Tick, tock, tick, tock...life on the trade front. Todd, you must hate this day like no other. No trade we go nuts, bad trade we go nuts, any trade we second guess to death. Be interesting to see if Lannan comes inside and high to Chase tonight. And if he does, let Kendrick drill their 3-4-5, get thrown out and let Happ finish.

Looks like what we have is what we have....maybe the distractions hanging over the boys' heads the past 6 weeks may finally be over and done with.....lets see if they can concentrate better and play more consistently the rest of the way.....

Distractions? What distractions? The only one that should have been worried about getting traded is Myers. This team won't even make it into the playoffs.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
