Adam Eaton won't make his next start because of a back problem.
"We're giving it a couple days off," said Eaton, who is 0-2 with a 15.75 ERA this spring. "The MRI results were .... slight herniated disc. And some arthritis on the right side. Which is kind of what we knew going in. But it's official."
What does that mean?
It's not serious. Eaton could pitch again Thursday.
How effectively remains to be seen.

The Phillies made their first cuts today. They optioned Joe Bisenius, J.A. Happ and Brad Harman to minor-league camp. They re-assigned Ron Chiavacci, Zack Segovia, Brian Mazone, Joe Savery, Tuffy Gosewisch, Lou Marson, Jason Donald, Mike Cervenak, Andy Tracy and Valentino Pascucci.
Of the unimpressive list of alternatives to Eaton, who's got the best stuff? I'm not including Benson or any of the AA guys, who we're told won't be ready for the big leagues at the start of the season.
How about giving it a few weeks off?
He might look nice in an Iron Pigs uniform. He needs to EARN a major league job.
Josh M, what did the good people of the Lehigh Valley ever do to you that you would cast Adam Eaton onto them? Maybe we could get the Mets to take him in exchange for a bucket of sunflower seeds. We shouldn't be too greedy and ask for the ranch or barbeque flavor. We don't want to scare them away from the deal. Just plain sunflower seeds.
Hey Omar! You interested? Eaton for some sunflower seeds.
My apologies to anybody in the Lehigh Valley that I may have offended. Go Iron Pigs!
Wh0 cares?! Give one of the Durbins, or Blakeley a chance.
Well, maybe I've changed my mind about J.D.!
