Less than 24 hours after starting in right field at Citizens Bank Park, Domonic Brown found himself in Lehigh Valley surrounded by the hijinx and high pants that go along with minor league baseball.
The 23-year old returned to the IronPigs as a result of the big club’s acquisition of Hunter Pence. Instead of right, Brown patrolled left field at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday night and wasted no time getting busy as Buffalo’s leadoff hitter blooped a single in front of Brown.
As Brown stepped into the box for his first at-bat in the bottom of the first inning, a picture of the 23-year old donning a cowboy hat in front of a western background, part of the team’s Monkey Rodeo Night.
With his white pant legs pulled high placing an emphasis on his navy socks, Brown worked a five-pitch walk to load the bases with one out. Left fielder Delwyn Young then ended the inning as he grounded into a double play.
Brown’s nameplate is blank as the back of his crimson jersey is adorned with only a No. 7, per a result of his arrival this afternoon.
In his second at-bat, in the bottom of the third, Brown walked on eight pitches. He struck out his third time up by swinging through a 92-mp.h fastball, then roped a single off the second baseman to center field in the seventh. In his final at-bat in the ninth, representing the winning run, he grounded into a double play.
His final hitting line: 1 for 3, two walks and a strikeout. Lehigh Valley lost 2-1.

Nice game for Brown. We'll see him in a month and for several years to come.

"Leftfielder Delwyn Young?" You just wrote that Brown played left field.
"Roped a single off the second baseman?" Was that Valdez pitching? VicM
"23 years old and livin life" good for you D-Bro! stay positive, keep hitting and see you in september. TooManyAdsOnThisSite
Let Brown play and work on his game hopefully...jsut because he can handle AAA pitching,(and he can), doesn't mean he shouldn't shorten his swing some as well as strive to improve in the field...Chin up, head down...relaim that swagger young man! bearsfriend
Last day Ruben, trade Halladay and restock the farm system. Then you can promote David Herndon into the starting rotation. lonewolf100
Did he do his Stevie Wonder impression when balls were hit his way in RF??? kelprod2
You could see the improvement with Brown at bat on a daily basis. He does need further seasoning, though. This short stint at Lehigh Valley will get him ready for the September call-up & a long career in left field at CBP. gakski
lonewolf, please retire from these pages, fed up with your constant bs about herndon

DONDEN31 there are many lonewolfs. One takes off and another one fills the shoes kind of like the Green Lantern. There is no "true" lonewolf just a spirit of a real Philadelphian past down from generation to generation. Wolf Out! lonewolf 10
