That's what they've asked for. It remains to be seen how the Phils will respond to that. Keep in mind that in a negotiating process, offers evolve; this would not necessarily be the deal, if one is done. The Phils could counter with something entirely different.
When Charlie Manuel said yesterday “I prefer the horse,” the horse had a name: Halladay. As the Phillies and Blue Jays negotiate, figuring out who to include or not in a potential trade, there is a buzz around the clubhouse. Phillies players have pulled me aside, asking, “Hey, off the record, are we going to get Doc? What will we have to give up?
alright than stigs, by your logic, if Happ beats the Cards tonite, does that automatically upgrade him from a good pitcher to one CAN beat the best teams out there? I agree w/ valentine, trading Happ for Halladay upgrades from one pitcher to the next, but you're still left with a hole in the rotation...alright I gots to go. Happ is getting guys out as we speak... bboybeballin- That sounds like to much to me... then again.. winning back to back World Series would be AMAZING! ChrisM
No deal, plain and simple. I dont care what Busted Olney thinks or what Peter Gamms feels is a "3 Time World Champion", its worse than the pronger package. The staff is fine, we even have retreads like Lopez throwin ropes! Onlineps2beast

As a life-long Jays fan, I will be sorry to see Doc go. I know it's tough to give up prospects, but trust me he is worth it! johnny_utah- Please no... BJG83
People are saying that it's too much to give up for a pitcher you will only have for the balance of this season and all of the next. Remember that, IF he walks as a free agent, the Phillies will receive two #1 picks in compensation. But they will have all of the time between now and the fall of 2010 to sit down with "Doc" and try to sign him to an extension. As far as Drabek goes, remember the old TNSTAAPP acronym - There's No Such Thing As A Pitching prospect. Yeah, he's gotten guys out in A and AA this year, but many of the guys he are getting out will never make it to the majors. Getting Doc makes the entire rotation better for this year and next... jdrushton- MORGANA - Well Said. I agree. ChrisM

- Negotiation 101: Blue Jays start with the high bid, Phillies start with a low one. Somewhere they meet in the middle. They aren't getting all of those guys but negotiations have to start somewhere.
Yeah, and I want Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba and Meghan Fox, but I have about as much chance of getting those 3 as the Blue Jays do of getting Drabek, Happ and Brown. Tell Toronto to stick it!! phink
go for it!!!! smoothphilly84
