ATLANTA -- Roy Halladay has thrown two complete games in a row only to lose both. In the last five years, that has happened to three pitchers.

Two of them, of course, are currently Phillies.

As I wrote in today's game story, poor run support is something Halladay probably thought he left behind in Toronto. In that three-game stretch during the 2008 season when Halladay threw three straight complete games for the Blue Jays, his team scored four runs while allowing 10.

In this current two-game stretch, Halladay has allowed five runs. The Phillies have scored three times.

The game story was about the little things that cost Halladay but could have been masked by a halfway decent offense. A reader email from Greg Bonner pointed out another little thing I missed:

In the third inning, the only inning the Phillies had more than one hit, Halladay failed to lay down a bunt. That likely cost the Phillies a run.

Carlos Ruiz was still on first when Michael Martinez hit a two-out single to right-center. If Ruiz is on second, he probably scores there.

Chase Utley was 0 for 4 with two strikeouts in a single-A Clearwater rehab game Sunday. More importantly, he played nine innings in the field for the first time. No word yet on what his plan for today is.
