So yesterday I said I was glad it was Sunday because people finally would stop talking about how Donovan McNabb didn't know the overtime rules.
Seems like an eternity ago, doesn't it?
So things aren't going real well right now for the Eagles. Thankfully, there is YouTube to take us back to a better time and a better place. Comcast SportsNet also is replaying six memorable games in the Phillies' run to the World Series championship:
December 9 at 7 p.m. - Phillies clinch the National League East championship on Sept. 28 at Citizens Bank Park.
December 14 at 7 p.m. - Game 2 of the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers at Citizens Bank Park. Shane Victorino hits a grand slam against CC Sabathia.
December 21 at 7 p.m. - Game 4 of the NLDS against the Brewers at Miller Park. The Phillies advance to their first NLCS since 1993.
December 24 at 7 p.m. - Game 4 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Victorino and Matt Stairs hit home runs in the eighth inning to win it.
December 30 at 7 p.m. - Game 5 of the NLCS against the Dodgers. The Phillies clinch their first NL pennant in 15 years.

Zo...Thanks for the Comcast list! I wonder how much memory my DVR has? LOL! I'll definitely be saving the WS game 5! I had recorded the *2nd* half of that game, but accidentally erased it. Very tramatic night for me! LOL!

Todd...thanks. Watching that video gives me chills and brings a tear to my eye. This feeling won't go away for a long time, regardless of what the other area teams do.

Thanks, Todd! Still brings a smile to my face to watch! One question - I just noticed in that Game 4 Iwamura ball that Utley fakes to 1st, throws home for an out - Geoff Jenkins is right there near the plate (and celebrating the out with his postseason exuberance). Can anyone tell me why he was by home plate at that time??

I just watched the YouTube video three times in a row. Can't get enough of WS baseball! gbrettfan....I noticed Jenkins, too. I'm thinking he was coming up to pinch hit for Hamels? One of the sports writers was re-capping the WS the other day, and mentioned that Chase's fake to 1st/throw to home, will go down as one of the best plays in World Series history! And he wasn't even a Philly writer! LOL!

Zo, I need no cheering up... the Mets are paying $850M for a new ballpark, and a big chunk of the revenue it is supposed generate, that $20M a year from CitiGroup, is in serious jeopardy, and now they are pulling out of the bidding for Derek Lowe, because the price is too high. Just having wonderful holiday fantasies of the Mets not having nearly the financial resources they were expecting to have this offseason. So much for trying to buy their way past the Phillies in the standings. See? Recession isn't an ENTIRELY bad thing. It stinks for most of us, but at least it stinks for the Mets as well. :)

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover
Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.
This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
