Brown wins N.L. player of the week and player of the month

The awards keep coming for Domonic Brown.

One week after winning the National League player of the week award, Brown won it again Monday. He also was named the league's player of the month becoming the first Phillies player to win that award since Ryan Howard in August of 2009.

Brown hit .444 with seven home runs and 13 RBIs for the week and finished the month of May with a .303 average, four doubles, one triple, 12 home runs and 25 RBIs. He had 12 multi-hit games in May and twice hit two home runs in the same game.

To make room on the roster for Young, the Philies optioned Michael Martinez to triple-A Lehigh Valley.
