Brown sits with sprained right thumb
Matt Gelb, Inquirer Staff Writer
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Top prospect Domonic Brown left Wednesday's game and sat out Thursday with triple-A Lehigh Valley due to a sprained right thumb. The Phillies say the injury is "mild" and Brown will miss two to four days.
Brown is closely watched in the minors because of the lack of production in right field from Ben Francisco. The 23-year-old is 19 for 53 in 14 minor-league games since coming returning from a broken hamate bone on his right hand.
The hamate bone is on the opposite part of the hand from the thumb.
Brown has a 16-game hitting streak for the IronPigs dating back to last season. In nine games this year with Lehigh Valley, he has three outfield assists.
He was 1 for 4 Thursday with a run and RBI before being removed in the middle of the ninth.

hope he is not injury prone.... malco49
How did he sit out Thursday and go 1 for 4? rickm
ehhh, makes it easier to not worry about rushing him back. 24-12, take your time, when DB is healthy enough welcome back. zonaindie2
Malco he is absolutely injury prone. He's already injured his hamstring, his wrist, his thumb, and I am pretty sure I'm leaving one out. How a 22 year old (at the time) pulls a hamstring in the first place I have no idea. He'll never play a full season. twothousandeight- "He'll never play a full season." Are you kidding me? What a dismal outlook on life.

@2008:
And you base your medical opinion on exactly what training, and what examination or contact with Brown? judas_priest
WHY is John Mayberry not getting a chance to replace Francisco?! I am so irritated! RhondaBillings
Blah Blah Blah. Lets let the professionals determine the 25 man roster. 24-12 is not bad while missing your Closer/2nd Closer/2nd Baseman/Catcher/Back up Catcher now. Let Cholly/RAJ do their jobs (they have been doing a good job for the past four seasons, right?). Brown is an amazing prospect. Until he tears up AAA pitching (I mean, hit upper .300's with HR's), why not properly develop down on the farm? Ibanez is warming up and Utley is almost ready to move on up north (a la the Jeffersons'). Worley is an able sub for Blanton/Oswalt. Heck, even Kendrick went a good 5 the other night. Until the roof caves in, let the professional's do their jobs. drhoffman
