WASHINGTON -- Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown has an infection in his tonsils and will be seen by a team doctor on Monday. Brown was out of the starting lineup for the fifth consecutive game Sunday against the Washington Nationals.

The day before manager Ryne Sandberg said that Brown had strep throat, his second case of it in the past month.

Brown’s last appearance came as a pinch hitter in Thursday’s 10-4 win over the Nationals. He hit an RBI fielder’s choice.

Brown is batting .231 with seven home runs, 50 RBI and a .620 OPS. He just came off arguably his most productive month.

In July Brown batted .268 with two home runs 12 RBIs and a .715 OPS. His last start came on Tuesday in a 6-0 win against the host New York Mets.
