Brett Myers has possible shoulder strain
Andy Martino
Wondering why Brett Myers had not pitched since Sept. 12? He has a possible shoulder strain. Here’s Ruben Amaro Jr.: a few minutes ago:
“He’s got some soreness in the back of his shoulder. We’ve been kind of protecting him. I guess he sustained it about eight or 10 days ago….He’s scheduled to see (team physician) Mike Ciccotti on Tuesday to see if there is anything realy serious about it. (The training staff) is saying it’s a possible strain.”
Amaro said that he did not believe Myers returned too soon from hip surgery, but may have pitched too often once back.

- A really beat up pitching staff, luckily none sound too serious. Oh, and yes, I am a doctor. Dr. SillyBilly from Philly to you.
methypredniolone ? For an athlete whom you want to compete ? Let's hope not. Check the side effects, and the fact you aren't supposed to stop the medication right away. I had a thorough physical, and was prescribed it for an ear infection. I developed A Fib immediately after not being able to tolerate it. Think twice before allowing anyone to prescribe it for you, and check the medical posts on the internet. phineas
Charlie pitched him in 4 straight games not long after he came of the DL. In retrospect, not a good plan. phink- Residual effect of getting beaned by his kid. I mean, from falling out of his truck. Or, from getting in a bar fight. scottash
I've taken a couple of shots at you Martino, but your new pic is a little less NY wine and cheesey. I think I like you now, so at least you have that going for you. phillyjeffsr
Betsy and Phineas. Not to contradict your obvious medical background, but methylpred (depo-medrol) is, in fact, used for tendonitis to reduce swelling and has very few side effects, due to it's localized injection into the joint. He could, and would, be throwing within a week. Unless you are using high dose, systemic steroids, a taper is not required. And ,yes, I do have a medical degree. Two actually. One from the University of Health Sciences in Phila. The other from Chicago College of Osteopathic Med. scootch
