April 6 - Phillies vs. Diamondbacks

Disappointing loss for the Phils in the sense that Adam Eaton is showing signs from 2007, when he had a 6.29 ERA. At least Eaton was honest when he talked about walking Randy Johnson on four pitches in the fourth inning:

"I f----d up."

Eric Bruntlett knocked in Shane Victorino in the fifth with a double and Jayson Werth hit a solo homer in the sixth to make it 6-4.

So Taguchi pinch-hit for Adam Eaton. In four innings, Eaton allowed five hits, six runs, three walks and one home run. He struck out one. He has a 5.63 ERA.

Adam Eaton suffered a fourth inning meltdown as the Diamondbacks took a 6-2 lead. He walked Justin Upton to start the inning. Mark Reynolds then ripped a ball to right field. Jayson Werth got to the ball in time, but the ball hit the heel of his glove and bounced out for a double to put runners on second and third. Eaton then walked Miguel Montero to load the bases with no outs.

Augie Ojeda flied out to shallow center to keep the runners at bay.

But then Eaton walked Randy Johnson on four pitches to score Upton to make it 2-2. Chris Young's fielder's choice scored Reynolds to make it 3-2. Stephen Drew then smacked a three-run homer to right to make it 6-2.

The Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the third inning when Eric Bruntlett hit a two-run homer to left field. He entered tonight hitting .292 (14 for 48) with six RBIs in his previous 13 games.
