April 10 - Phillies vs. Mets

Follow tonight's action between the Phillies and Mets at Shea Stadium.

April 10 - Phillies vs. Mets

Mets win in 12 innings, 4-3, when Jose Reyes scores from second on a single to center from Angel Pagan. Close play at the plate. The Phillies swear Reyes was out. Doesn't matter. The Phillies had their chances. They were 0 for 12 with runners in scoring position.

We're in extra innings (aka bonus baseball).

Pedro Feliz homered in the seventh to cut the Mets lead to 3-1. Chris Coste and Jayson Werth then got on base with no outs, but Pedro Feliciano struck out Shane Victorino, Eric Bruntlett and Chase Utley to end the inning. Where's the offense?

There it is: Ryan Howard crushed a homer to left-center in the eighth to make it 3-2. So Taguchi scored the tying run in the eighth on a fielder's choice.

Chase Utley just dropped a forearm shiver on Mets second baseman Damion Easley in the sixth inning. Utley ripped a ball off the bag at first base. The deflection popped the ball toward Easley, who flipped the ball to first. Easley's momentum took him into Utley's running path. Utley never stopped, and he plowed into Easley.

Utley was standing.

Easley fell over.

The Mets took a 2-0 lead in the fourth when Ryan Church hit a two-out single to left-center field, scoring Angel Pagan and Carlos Beltran.

Adam Eaton and John Maine have dominanted their respective opponents over the years. Eaton is 5-0 with a 2.68 ERA in seven career starts against the Mets. Maine is 4-0 with a 2.13 ERA in six career starts against the Phillies. So far their forms have held true. Eaton and Maine each have thrown three shutout innings.

Adam Eaton threw a 1-2-3 inning in the first inning against the Mets, which guarantees the first three innings in tonight's game will be an improvement over the first three innings in last night's 8-2 loss.
