The Phillies and Marlins will play a day-night doubleheader Saturday. Game 1 is at 1:05 p.m. and Roy Halladay will start that. Game 2 is 7:05 p.m., which will be started... Read more

Hamels placed on DL, but he's pitching Monday

Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 1:29 PM
The Phillies placed Cole Hamels on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, but it's not a huge deal. The team says he will start Monday in Cincinnati. The move is retroactive to Aug. 13, so Hamels is eligible to return Sunday from minor shoulder inflammation. He will do just that, apparently. For now,... Read more

Ibanez, Howard both sidelined

Tuesday, August 23, 2011, 5:13 PM
The injury list grows by the day and the only comfort in that is the calendar. Better now than October, right? Ryan Howard is the latest regular missing from Charlie Manuel's lineup. He has inflammation (bursitis) in his left ankle and heel area, Ruben Amaro Jr. said. It's the same ankle he sprained... Read more

What does Weaver deal do for Hamels?

Monday, August 22, 2011, 10:17 AM
A great deal of space has been exhausted here about the impending contractual negotiations of Cole Hamels for a few reasons: 1. He's the only "ace" under 30 on the team. 2. The last one-and-a-half season's worth of data tell us he has emerged as one of the best lefthanders in the game. 3. The Phillies... Read more

Here in the 21st century, the players tweet first and talk later. And, so, after announcing via Twitter that he was headed for the 15-day disabled list with a Grade 2 groin strain, Phillies shortstop offered more than 140 characters about his injury before the Phillies opened a three-game series against... Buried in defeat, Kyle Kendrick was impressive

Saturday, August 20, 2011, 12:07 PM
WASHINGTON — Two weeks ago, when Kyle Kendrick finished a bullpen session in San Francisco, Mick Billmeyer stopped the pitcher he had just caught. The bullpen coach had something to say. Manuel should monitor Madson's appearances

Saturday, August 20, 2011, 3:36 PM
Think we can all agree that was not Ryan Madson's finest moment early Saturday morning down at Nationals Park. He threw 14 more pitches and allowed twice as many runs in two-thirds of an inning than he had in any other appearance this season. The six runs allowed matched a career high for a Madson...
