Do I even bother asking why 8:37? I guess MLB still hasn't learned not to let Fox dictate times of games. Why should kids have to endure a time like this. Instead of making the 3 1/2 inning farce early so players can get to Fl at a reasonible hour (if needed) they make sure they will fly in middle of night to play on Thurs night. What jokers

8:37 is for the Obama advertisement to be played in it's entirety.

I think Barack Obama has bought national air time for tomorrow and the game would've started at that time anyway. I'm glad MLB had the sense to postpone it until tomorrow (even though tomorrow might not be much better).

At least the fans can make reasonable plans to attend with a set time and date.

Barack will definitely be on tomorrow night with an informative 1/2 hr message to the country. He will be inspirational, he will be eloquent and he will present his closing arguement directly to the public w/out filters. I think his move is pure genius. I encourage all of you to get out and vote the following Tuesday b/c we can not tolerate another 8 yrs of Republican rule. Say what you will about Barack but his policy's can't possibly be worse than Bushes, heck it will take all eight yrs(if elected) to bring us back to where we were when Clinton left office. Our economy lays in ruin, our national honor is lost and most importantly our sense of self as a country is diminshed. Barack is the 'one' that can lead us out of this abyss and help restore our nation to the prominent role envisioned by our founding fathers, we can again be a beacon of hope in the world. YES WE CAN...

Tomorrow night should have no rain, but it will be COLD and WINDY. That may be better for the Phils. Everyone was talking about the Rays playing up north; now we'll see how they handle it when the series is on the line. As for why the 8:37 start time, it's simple: They can add millions of viewers on the west coast by not starting at say 7. True, these are east coast teams, but still, there are plenty of baseball fans out west who will watch if the game is on TV when they get home from work, but will not watch if it's on at 4pm their time. No big deal in this case, since it should be only a 3-inning game. Over by 10. Celebration 10pm-6am. Shower. Go to work.

So IF there is a Game 7, might Hamels go? If he wins that, can he say he was 5-0-1 in the postseason? :) ha ha NO GAME 7! Or 6. Finish this thing. Please.

About Matt Gelb and Bob Brookover

Bob Brookover and Matt Gelb team up for their third straight season covering the Phillies for the Inquirer and philly.com.

This is Brookover’s second stint writing about the Phillies, having joined the coverage team after seven years as an Eagles beat writer. Brookover was hired by The Inquirer in 2000 as the Phillies beat writer after spending 13 years writing about the team for two suburban newspapers. While on the Eagles beat, Brookover, who had covered just two winning Phillies teams in 15 seasons, saw the Phillies move into a cash-cow new ballpark and begin playing a brand of the game he found unrecognizable. Gelb is in his third season covering the Phillies. He was hired by The Inquirer in August 2009 after graduating from Syracuse University. He has also covered baseball at The Star-Ledger and Cape Cod Times. Born and raised in Bucks County, he attended Central Bucks High School West. Follow him on Twitter here.
