PITTSBURGH -- The Phillies face a Pittsburgh Pirates team that has gotten itself back into playoff contention after a rough start. Since May 2, the Pirates (44-41) share the best record in baseball along with the Oakland A’s and Los Angeles Angels. All three were 34-23 during that span entering today’s action.

The Pirates are 7-3 in their last 10 games after Thursday’s 10-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Phillies (37-48) snapped a six-game losing streak with Thursday’s comeback 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins.

Trailing 4-3 after eight innings, the Phillies rallied for two runs in the ninth for the win. According to Elias, it marked the second time in the last three seasons that the Phillies won a road game with a ninth inning rally after they trailed going into their final turn at-bat.

Domonic Brown has been activated from the paternity leave list and outfielder Aaron Altherr has been optioned to Reading.

Brown is not in the starting lineup. Tony Gwynn Jr. is in left field.
