ST. LOUIS -- It won’t get much better than the pitching matchup today between Cole Hamels and St. Louis Cardinals RHP Adam Wainwright.

Hamels has a scoreless streak of 23 2/3 innings. At 2-3 with a 2.78 ERA, he’s probably the biggest example of why pitching records can be so misleading.

Then again, there is nothing misleading about Wainwright’s numbers, (9-3, 2.15 ERA).

Wainwright missed his last start with right elbow tendonitis. His most recent start was June 10.
