Phillies outfielder Domonic Brown, who left Saturday’s 12-7 marathon 18-inning loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the top of the third inning due to soreness in his right Achilles, says he is feeling better and hopes to return soon.

Brown wasn’t in the lineup in today’s series finale at Citizens Bank Park after x-rays showed he has inflammation of the Achilles.

“My Achilles has been a little sore the past couple of days and I think I am available to pinch hit today and we will see what happens,” Brown said before this afternoon’s game.

Brown indicated that his Achilles was already feeling better than it was on Saturday when struck out in the first inning.

“It was really stiff last night, taking a swing,” he said. “I got on the meds last night, yesterday, and hopefully I will be back in lineup tomorrow or the next day.”

Phillies transactions

As most know by now, Roy Halladay, who was supposed to pitch today in a rehab start at Reading, will start for the Phillies instead. Tyler Cloyd, who was supposed to start today, threw five scoreless innings on Saturday.

Halladay, who had shoulder surgery on May 15, was activated from the 60-day disabled list. The Phillies also selected the contract of righthander J.C. Ramirez from Lehigh Valley.

Cloyd and reliever Luis Garcia were optioned to Lehigh Valley.
