Phillies interim manager Ryne Sandberg said everybody would get a chance and he is proving that by giving newcomer Roger Bernadina his first start in tonight’s series finale at Citizens Bank Park against the Colorado Rockies.

Bernadina was signed as a free agent on Wednesday after being released on Monday by the Washington Nationals.

He will start in center field tonight and hit eighth. Bernadina flew out to right as a pinch hitter for Cliff Lee in his Phillies first at-bat during Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Colorado

With Washington, he batted .178 in 152 at-bats with a .517 OPS.
