Darin Ruf, who joined the Phillies midway through Saturday’s 13-4 loss to Atlanta, is in the starting lineup for today’s series finale against the Braves at Citizens Bank park.

Ruf is playing first base and batting seventh in place of Ryan Howard who is now on the disabled list and awaits an MRI on his knee.

After traveling from Scranton, where Lehigh Valley was playing, Ruf got into the Phillies game last night and went 1 for 2 with a run scored.

“Unfortunately I had to come up under these circumstances but it’s baseball and the season goes on,” Ruf said. “You still have to go out there and help them win as many games as a possible.”
