Reading lefthander Jesse Biddle will not pitch in Wednesday’s Eastern League Double-A all-star game in New Britain, Connecticut, although he will attend the event, according to Phillies director of player development Joe Jordan.

Biddle has also been selected to compete in the Futures game, July 14 at Citi Field.

“He really wanted to pitch in the Futures Game and we felt that it was better to only pitch in one of the two,” Jordan said.

Jordan explained that appearing in both would throw Biddle off his pitching schedule.

Reading righthander Seth Rosin, who was acquired last season in the Hunter Pence deal with the San Francisco Giants, has been added to the Eastern League squad and will pitch in Biddle’s place, Jordan said.

Biddle is 3-8 but has a 3.09 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP. Rosin is 6-4 with a 4.17 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP.
