Mathieson Has Tommy John Surgery

Phillies righthander Scott Mathieson had right UCL reconstruction surgery (Tommy John), performed by orthopedist James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.

Recovery is expected to take up to one year.

This is Mathieson's second Tommy John surgery since Sept. 2006. The recovery rate for a second-time Tommy John surgery recepient is about 30 percent.

Now this is the Hamels everybody expects!! It seemed like the last few starts, every time the Phils scored and took a lead, he would give it right back the next inning. Not this time! As far as Myers goes, I was listening to 950am and they said it could be as simple as locating his pitches better and just mixing it up more. Its just like what Schilling went through, but Schilling also came up with the split finger pitch that got a ton of outs
