Phillies closer Brad Lidge threw 19 pitches in an intrasquad game at the Carpenter Complex.
He faced five batters.
He struck out three. He walked one.
"There's nothing better than facing hitters, and that was a lot of fun," said Lidge, who hasn't faced hitters in a game situation since last season with the Houston Astros. "I felt a lot better (with my command). I think part of that is just having actual hitters, kind of getting a little extra boost and being able to lock in with an actual game surrounding. That's real important for me. Obviously, I need a few more of those now."
Lidge had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Feb. 25. He said he thinks he will be ready for the March 31 season opener.
