Game 124: Polanco Back In The Lineup
Marc Narducci
The Phillies had won seven in a row against the Cincinnati Reds dating back to last year before Tuesday’s 5-4 loss.
The two teams now play the third game of their four-game series at Citizens Bank Park with Vance Worley (6-8, 4.11) against Bronson Arroyo (9-7, 3.96).
Charlie Manuel indicated the other night that he would ease Placido Polanco back into the lineup. Polanco returns at third base after Kevin Frandsen went 3 for 4 with a triple, RBI and a sensational defensive play.
The Phillies hope that Worley can get back on track. In August he is 1-2 with a 5.23 ERA, having walked nine and struck out nine in 20 2/3 innings.
Here is the Phillies lineup.
1. Jimmy Rollins, SS
2. Juan Pierre, LF
3. Chase Utley, 2B
4. Ryan Howard, 1B
5. John Mayberry Jr., CF
6. Domonic Brown, RF
7. Placido Polanco, 3B
8. Brian Schneider, C
9. Vance Worley, P
Why? He's not here next year, time to move on. Same with Schneider. jimmymack
Cause for concern: Worley's K% has gone from 24.5% in May to 9% in August. Plus his K/BB ratio has gone from 3.25 to 1. 46 and 2
This is suppose to be the time that they play new guys to see what they can do.Some of those 2 new guys are Frandson and Kratz. They have been showing some good stuff. We already know what Polanco and Schneider can do,which isn't much.So why the H_LL are the 2 of them starting????Maddening!!! snowman100- Agreed.

I've been a die hard Phillies fans for more than 40 years and in all that time I never dreamed I'd see the day: 1. Where they would outspend the next highest team in the league by $50 million and 11 of the National League teams and spend more than double what the Braves, Reds, Nationals, Diamondbacks, and Pirates spend; 2. Where they would have such a spending advantage and perform so poorly. 3. That they would perform so poorly while maintaining the status quo and passively accepting such a horrible outcome. 4. That- given all the previously unbelievable things- they would play a game on August 22nd, 20 games out of 1st place with a starting line up that averages 32 years old. What's going on here? jtj06- I forgot to put "by $75 million" after "11 of the National League teams".

always good to see Schneider, Polanco and Pierre in the lineup if you want a quick low-scoring game --chollie still hasn't figured it out though ...dumbest manager in modern history of baseball warbiscuit
